Description
This auction is for a copy of the rare Beatles promo only fan club issue of " Christmas Album". It is on the Apple label from 1969, Matrix runout is SBC 100-1-A with the line and three dots, small sf, Winchester printing logo and Bell sound stamped logo. Side two is SBC-2-100-B and all the logos.
This is an original not a bootleg. Photos and labels are crisp and clear and Theatre Royal can be seen the 1967 group photo.
Cover: VG+, very strong, some edgewear along the opening where the cover is exposed
Vinyl: VG+, only very light wear, nice shine overall
For the holidays 1963-1969, the Beatles recorded a series of unique flexi-discs (floppy records) containing specially created Christmas messages that were distributed only to members of their fan club. The ‘63 and ‘64 messages had the boys reading from a prepared script by Tony Barrow. For ‘65, they improvised their material, including an out-of-tune rendition of "Yesterday.” The discs for ‘66 and ‘67 are a series of comic sketches, with a different recurring theme song for each one. By the time the ‘68 and ‘69 discs were issued, it was clear that the boys were going in different directions, as they had separately recorded messages. After The Beatles break up in 1970, the fan club issued “The Beatles Christmas Album” containing all 7 Christmas programs together.
