LARRY BIRDSONG 4 Song Acetate (Early 60's)
Condition: Record plays and looks VG+ (hear samples below)
Up for auction is a rare Larry Birdsong metal acetate 12" that plays at 45 rpm speed. From the tracks on it, it is probably a "Home Of The Blues" ACETATE FROM 1962. I have played every track only ONCE, and recorded it (for my personal enjoyment) to avoid wearing the grooves. The acetate has a small sticker on one side with writing that reads "Larry Birdsong Someone Is Calling - Aunt Mattie" (see picture below.) I Can't Keep From Crying / Aunt Mattie was a Home of the Blues label 45 rpm release (# 240) from 1962. I do not have the original single to compare to this, so I do not know if the versions of Can't Keep From Crying and Aunt Mattie on this acetate are different from the 45 version released. More interestingly though are the other two tracks on this acetate which to the best of my knowledge are unreleased songs by Larry Birdsong. I titled them below for reference based on the lyrical content of each track. A unique item from this late great R&B blues singer. The sound samples below are NOT the complete songs, I edited them for time. Enjoy the samples to follow:
