PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Look at the picture of the back cover and it's pretty easy to imagine what the music of Sower is all about! The songwriting duo of Kelly Cargo (vocals & guitar) and Charles Maxwell (vocals & guitar) forms the core of the group - they are accompanied by electric guitar (Rick Pruitt), drums (Joe Ferwerda), flute (Rayha Radha) and violin (Rob Mabee) on most tracks - the lack of bass give the music a floating, unrooted feel. Aside from a couple of stoner-country type tracks, Cargo & Maxwell infuse their wasted, acid-tinged folk-rock songs with a healthy dose of hip intellectual references (one song contains a spoken-word quote from T. S. Eliot - another incorporates a Buddhist chant) and damaged psych-rock moves. Basically a laid-back, gentle sort of psych / folk / rock LP with odd instrumentation that draws from some rather unlikely sources (one of the tunes here sounds like they were trying to do a cover of 'Ventura Highway' after ingesting a peyote button or two). It is possible - cannot substantiate this - that Kelly Cargo is somehow related to New Mexico's former Republican governor, David Cargo.
This is a minty clean TOP copy of a very rare and odd private issue psych LP from New Mexico.

I saw your auction for this item this morning and I couldn't believe it. There are probably less than four hundred copies of this album. I could be wrong. The number could be less than two hundred. How do I know? I was the photographer for the back cover. I met Kelly & Charles one day while I was exploring the New Mexico desert south of Santa Fe (Spring of 1977). While out in the middle of nowhere, a boy about 8 years old (Rayha,) walked up to me and led me back to his home where lived Charles, Kelly and the boy's mom (Sioux Sun). Their home was an adobe and rock structure built into the side of a hill on disputed Indian land. Very strange times indeed! Your description of the music is incredibly accurate. Very laid back, hippie commune, country folk. I'll always remember those days. Sower played one concert, November 1977 at Popejoy Hall (Univ. of New Mex. Campus). Less than 25 people showed up and that was the end of Sower. One final thing. Kelly is NOT the son of the ex governor.
