Description

GENUINE 1966 JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL PROGRAMME!!

You are bidding on a rare programme from the 6th National Jazz Blues Festival. This festival was held during the last week of July 1966 at the Royal Windsor Racecourse ~ London UK

On previous years the Jazz and Blues Festivals where celebrated at Richmond having grown from humble beginnings in 1964. Owing to its ever growing popularity, the 1966 event was moved to the delightfully named 'Balloon Meadows' or Windsors Royal Racecourse.

These series of festivals where organised by The National Jazz Federation via the famous 60's Rock venue Londons

'marquee club'

90,WARDOUR STREET LONDON W.1.

The 1966 festival was of course notable as being the first major UK debut of CREAM, having only played one other warm -up show beforehand , at the Twisted Wheel club in Manchester on the 29th . In fact so new was this awesome trio that the name CREAM did not even appear on the flyer or the poster for this event, the programme however did manage to catch up!! Unfortunately, it rained like hell during their set and the festival turned into something of a mud bath, but it did not stop CREAM being greeted rapturously!

THE 1966 FESTIVAL LINE-UP INCLUDED:

The Small Faces, Spencer Davis Group, The Yardbirds, The Who ,Chris Farlow & The Thunderbirds, The Move, Georgie Fame, Gary Farr & the T. Bones, Chris Barber, Bluesology & of course Eric/Jack & Ginger.... Plus many more!

Programme size: 11" x 8 1/2"

The Programme has eight pages in all and contains a three day programme guide plus numerous B & W photos and bios of the participating acts/bands. There are also a number of topical adverts of the day.

Condition: Overall good with NO tears, rips or scribble and all pages intact and attached. Pages do show some age staining and handling marks. The vertical page edges show some waviness and the front cover RH vertical edge has some edge chips. There is NO paper loss!
