Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ORIGINAL '60s FIRST PRESS RARE LOCAL PRESS ~ SURF/GARAGE WITH TWIN GUITARS!
DAVY and THE BADMEN
WANTED!
\ USA - GOTHIC RECORDS - WA - 63-054
RARE!!! '60s LOCAL PRESSING ~ 52 YEARS OLD!
SOLID COLLECTION WORTHY COPY!
Primitive reverb/tremolo guitar dominated SURF/GARAGE rock quintet, dominated by twin reverb/tremolo guitars and pretty much recorded in one take -- straight from the garage! Obviously recorded in simple conditions with no overdubs or additives ... these cats were prep kids at Lawrenceville School, New-Jersey and after their stint as Davy and the Badmen they re-grouped and released a highly sought after GARAGE/SURF album under their new name THE TOADS.
DAVY and THE BADMEN were guitarists Andy Chilson and Dave Hill, bassist Pat Lynch, and drummer Dusty Stretch
The recording is one of those LO-FI productions ala "Justice" and similar labels, and includes a cool custom cover design, both which certainly add to the artifacts overall charm.
Highlights include: "Slow Relt" with a blues structure and some nice lead guitar, if slightly under-whelming drumming. "Torture" is quite good with an interesting melody and start-and-stop song structure and "The Original" certainly has a nice, bouncy guitar driven melody. Another one of the album's better performances... elsewhere "6 Come 11" is a bluesy-tinged number with some surprisingly accomplished lead guitar.
Side One :
Slow Relt
Summertime
Torture
The Original
7 Come 11
Side Two :

CONDITION: The cover: Note, these 50 year old GARAGE artifacts are normally found (IF found at all) to have considerable use, which under the circumstances, are readily acceptable by collectors of the genre. Surprisingly this copy with wear/dirt prone cover is very clean on the all important front cover, rated: M- after 52 years, still has a fresh appearance. The back cover is just as clean BUT has has foxing (discoloration spots from basically old age/climate conditions.) Again, the front is minty clean ... There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... a rare collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: loads of shine ...has a couple or so light hairlines, nothing bad, VG++ plays very enjoyable ... both GOTHIC Records labels are clean ...Clean and glossy over both sides, rated expect play grade to be with very enjoyable audio...NO distracting surface problems ... both labels are clean
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
