"The recordings presented here would appear to emanate largely from sessions produced by Al Smith in 1967. There is, however, much doubt and not a little mystery over where and exactly when these sessions were cut, the musicians involved, and the subsequent provenance of the recordings. Some of the tracks herein, although differently mixed, mastered or edited in certain cases, appeared on the now-defunct ABC-Bluesway label in 1968; others surfaced, complete with overdubs, on the obscure Roker label out of California in the early 1970s. What Interstate Music has now acquired are two tapes, one mastered and one edited, with enough material for two albums, of which this is the first. - Chris Bentley"
