PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. UNDERESTIMATED WEST COAST GEM
The STEVE MILLER BAND
Journey To Eden
USA - (lime green) ~ CAPITOL Records - SMAS - 11022
TOP COPY! Hardest to find of the psychedelic sound STVE MILLER BAND LP's...
ORIGINAL 1972 first pressing of a great underestimated album, complete and minty clean as released... with the poster included, and on the really hard to find LIME green Capitol label that was in print for only a very short time...
?????Never been reissued, remains a tough find when in top shape and complete with the poster like this copy with the poster still attached, just as first issued nearly 40 years ago.
Steve Miller had a real ace up his sleeve and delivered it to an unsuspecting public in 1972. Miller retreated to the studio with a brace of crack studio vets and issued "Recall The Beginning...A Jounery From Eden" to much deserved critical raves.
The record begins with a cool instrumental head-zone called "Welcome" which slides effortlessly into a groovy number called "Enter Maurice" this one is greasy as hell and a whole lot of fun. "High On You Mama" is a seductive down-home blues piece that features some pretty slide guitar and underwater bass guitar runs. "Heal Your Heart" goes back to the strut of earlier Miller albums such as "Sailor" and "Your Saving Grace." The next track "The Sun Is Going Down" is a bit of fluff but nothing that offensive. Side one ends with a real winner called "Somebody Somewhere Help Me" this one re-visits the record's opening theme then turns into a classic dose of blue-eyed soul (this would have been a bitchin' 45 but Capitol wasn't having it, what a bunch of squares man!!!)
In truth side one is fine uptempo groovin' stuff but it simply does not prepare you for the brilliance of side 2, in this opinion, this is one of the greatest album sides in rock history and probably the pinnacle of Miller's career. It's like Miller was magically transported back to the glory days of 1967-68. Side 2 begins with a gorgeous acoustic piece called "Love's Riddle" which features dreamy strings and Miller's eerie whispered vocals, then it's right into another mellow down easy number called "Fandango" which explodes into technicolor during the song's mid-section.
"Nothing Lasts" is just plain incredible, it opens with a dramatic wash of strings and Miller's elegant acoustic fingerpicking. The piece then takes flight in exhilirating fashion with Steve singing a majestic duet with himself, this number could be the greatest thing Miller ever recorded. But wait it gets even better, the closing track "Journey From Eden" (aka "Blackbird") is a mind-numbing psychedelic trip ballad straight off the grooves of the group's debut 1968 "Children Of The Future." Wow! what a finish to a briiliant side of music. You might think I'm mad but the stuff on the second side of this record is right up there with Forever Changes by Love and other heavies of the sort.
Sadly "Recall The Beginning...Journey From Eden" was not the huge hit it deserved to be and has been all but forgotten over the years. This is a f **king tragedy man !!!
