\           USA - Cotillion Records SD 9035 - WHITE LABEL PROMO

M- TOP VINYL

SUPER RARE as an advance release WHITE LABEL PROMO 1969 Original first pressing vinyl of the mighty SLADE in between their psych nuggets phase of AMBROSE SLADE and their early 70's stardom as hard rockers ...PLAY IT LOUD delivers perhaps their most solid album in the melodic hard edge underground psych territory...no holds barred riff growling rockers with great memorable melodic touches all throughout...

Aside from the Ambrose Slade album, PLAY IT LOUD is about as hard to find as that first Lp, we've only had a couple copies in the last several years...not getting any easier to find.

  • Noddy Holder - lead vocals, rhythm guitar
  • Dave Hill - lead guitar
  • Jim Lea - bass guitar, violin
  • Don Powell - drums

Produced by ex-Animals original member and first Jimi Hendrix Experience manager Chas Chandler ...Slade cooks from start to finish in a goood way on PLAY IT LOUD....Noddy Holders voice is raw, perfectly suited for the bands tough sound... Dace Hill's guitar is as good as it was ever going to be, Powell's drumming kept everything steady, and in Jimmy Lea, they had unearthed a Bass player of phenomenal ability... Dirty Joker is his standout track here but there are many favourites tucked away here.
"The Shape of Things to Come" was a single that should have scorched up the UK charts, but didn't, 'Dapple Rose' is also pretty catchy, and 'See Us Here' is yet another major effort at penning something 'self-important', pulled out by Holder's wonderful voice."Sweet Box" is as fresh today as it was then, and their take on "Angelina" is worth buying the Lp for on it's own. The shape of things to come indeed!!!
