WEST VIRGINIA SLIM ELECTRIC BLUES BAND leader Archie Himmons formed this Electric blues band being a big fan of the mid '60s Mike Bloomfield led Butterfield Blues Band (his own words) ... Underestimated, yes totally, yet the surprisingly powerful West Virginia Slim Electric Blues Band recorded this very rare/seldom-seen Lp for the infamous Los Angeles based Kent Records [ of Bob Smith 'Visitation' fame]
At the time, Archie was extremely surprised that this LP [which was a commercial flop in the USA] was hailed in Europe as a great electric blues rock '60s band!
So at the time, while Archie Himmons was visiting his family in Huntington Virginia (1972) he courted a white girl - but was severely beaten by the local KKK. He then decided to leave the USA. He settled in Mexico, recording with a Mexican "hard-psych/blues" legendary group, ''Three Souls In My Mind.''
Archie Himmons drifted a little bit everywhere in Central America, stayed several years in Tegucigalpa where he was more and more hooked by the Rastafarism. Archie became Akigo Haamu, then Go Ayo, recording under those names with his brand of "Mystic Reggae". For family reasons Archie went back to the States in 1979, settled in Nashville, Tennessee and formed the Afrikan Dreamland who caught on and recorded six albums.
Whatever the care, to the collector, avid listener, if you are into the mid-sixties-era Butterfield Blues Band jams, you'll be in for a similar treat.
