SCARCE 1969 first printing ...plenty of rowdy hard rockin' action in the LAST album by the legendary "THEM" ... This underestimated 1969 THEM album may not have the original Van Morrison line up from 1965, even though the groups name was certainly worth something, by virtue of its association with a mega-hit "Gloria". There are many examples of bands using their old name for its association with greatness, even though the newer incarnation and its subsequent change in musical direction would clearly have benefitted from a fresh start. The Pretty Things are just one example that comes to mind. The inclusion of session guitarist Jerry Cole on this album (famous for his sessions on a myriad of late 60's psych LP's, including The Animated Egg, among others), virtually guarantees tons of fuzz guitar, and he doesn't disappoint here. Most of this material is clearly in a hard "fuzzrock" vein, in the cool style you might find in the Texan sixties.
