Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. An obscure and rare record from this folk act led by James Harpham, (who plays the recorder, an ancient flute-like instrument) A Handful Of Pleasant Delites was originally released by Middle Earth in 1969 – the same label as Arcanum and Writing On The Wall – and featured an interesting blend of acoustic folk, baroque medleys, jazz improvisations and experimental music constantly shifting from pastoral atmospheres to urban neurosis. Highly Intriguing, sometimes challenging, and often charming, this collection features various vintage wind instruments, as well as the more usual guitar, in a series of delightful sonic explorations. An obscure and rare record from this folk act led by James Harpham, (who plays the recorder, an ancient flute-like instrument) this album was originally released by Middle Earth in 1969 Recorded and released in 1969, A Handeful of Pleasant Delites, on the Middle Earth label, is the only known album by England's Wooden O. While critics at the time hailed it as aunique blend of progressive folk music, the tunes here were more deeply influenced by Baroque music than anything else. Led by recorder (flute like instrument) player James Harpham, the rest of the ensemble played double bass (Arthur Watts), harp (David Snell), and second recorder (Christopher Taylor). The sheer unusual sound of this ensemble make the album a perfect post-psychedelic mesmerizer in the 21st century. There are 14 cuts here, all of them gorgeously played and arranged -- most notable is the opener, "Toye Tune," in which the recorder melodies play a sort of head and then go forth to melodically improvise like crazy. "Dance Tune" is a lush combination of Italian Renaissance melody with complex rhythms heading into improvisation. Watts' double bass is the perfect ground for this music because he swings no matter what he plays. There is also a Bach concerto here, entitled simply "Concerto," arranged by the band to weave their unique styles into the heart of pre-classical music. The second side is just as astonishing as the first, beginning with Watts' driven double bass on "Maypole." The two recorders play in harmonic counterpoint and offer a sense of true flight before the improvisation begins in a call-and-response way between the bass and the recorders. The hip-sound backwoods stroll of "Sweet-Bedded" is a deeply reflective and moving piece as Snell's harp creates a countermelody that bridges the recorders. The bottom line on A Handeful of Pleasant Delites is that freak folk fans may be interested in this because of the craft and gentleness of the tunes, but those interested in intricate UK prog/folk should find this both eye-opening and utterly enjoyableSide A:

CONDITION: The Cover: The gorgeously colorful and laminated cover is very fragile being a British original ... rated clean M- with only light little handling visuals which were careful considering...there are no prominent bends, NO writing, NO seam splits ... a beautiful up-grade or first time score!!
The Vinyl: unlike the cover, the surfaces are glossy with stray light hairlines/scuffs, will be safe with VG visuals grade ...played the whole LP and tracks very enjoyably with only little sporadic underwelming surface (nothing major) and overly satisfactory given the rarity and serene atmospheres within...
