Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

COLLECTION WORTHY COPY!

RARE ...highly rated/highly desired ... one of thee elite GARAGE-PSYCH collectibles ... adorned with phantastic cover art, this garage band from Boston area made just this one legendary album in 1967, this, the original first printing:::

Flat Earth Society's "Waleeco" is a much loved and TOP-level psychedelic organ-and-guitar-driven rock collectible, with a more focused sense of song construction than many such efforts in the late '60s...as a result the decidedly memorable melodies abound to the point where it's one of the albums that meet the surrounding hype.

From Lynn, just North of Boston Massachusetts, Flat Earth Society were notable for their crispy, clear vocal sound. In early 1968 they were approached by the Boston advertising firm Quinn and Johnson to make an album and a jingle for the manufacturer of the 'Waleeco' candy bar - the F. B. Washburn Candy Company. That year every 'Waleeco' bar carried a coupon advertising the Flat Earth's Society's album Waleeco for $1.50 and six 'Waleeco' bar wrappers.Recorded at Fleetwood Recording Studio in Revere, most of the material was written by Kerivan, the only non-original being a melodic-hypnotic version of Midnight Hour. The album covers quite a wide rock spectrum with groovy pop-craft (I'm So Happy), moody-folk (When You're There and The Prelude For Town Monk), hard fuzzrock (Four & Twenty Miles and Shadows), as well as psychedelia, but each track has the band's own style about it. Aside from the killer psych nugget "Feelin' Much Better," the best tracks are arguably on the second side of the album. "Dark Street Downtown" has some haunting vocals superimposed upon swirling piano. "Portrait In Grey" is a haunting keyboard-oriented instrumental and "Satori," a very strangely-great psychedelic jam. The band made a few appearances after making the album but broke up soon after. Highly rated - highly recommended.

                        Jack Kerivan (piano, organ, vocals),
Phil Dubuque (rhythm guitar, recorder, lead vocals),
Rick Doyle (lead guitar, tambourine, vocals),

                            Paul Carter (bass, vocals)

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG++ the THICK cover has slight cover wear; light on back cover, the front is clean but each letter (Flat Earth Society - Waleeco) has pen mark impressions, not so noticeable as there is no ink or writing anywhere -- the graphics still look mighty collectible, full of rich colors. There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ... VERY collection worthy rarity...

The vinyl: Rated: VG++ loads of shine, looks pretty nice/clean actually along with around 3 small hairlines and very light/faint inner sleeve type paper scuffs that can barely be seen. On first look the vinyl visually appears extremely clean but as detailed above = plays enjoyable with occasional light tick, otherwise mostly clean audio is without surface, just not quite mint all the way (!)  Both FLEETWOOD labels are clean!!
