In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. SCARCE, well hard to find Original first pressing of an LP that wasn't around but for a short while some 25+ years ago... just this one spare copy up for offers...
This album was recorded just after "Uncle Meat" came out in 1969 and not 1968 as the cover advises. The cover shows (similar to Uncle Meat) various creepy pictures of teeth sourrounded by monster-comic style monster heads. "Mothers" is written in dripping monster-comic style letters, too. Back cover imitates a Cal Schenkel montage with some Mothers and some other stuff. The gig was a 3 mike setup and before Frank could go retrieve the tapes for his own use, they were mysteriously missing. Actually the recording is from rough mixes Frank had made of the original tapes--so the original tapes themselves were not stolen - but rather these mixes were spirited away out of TTG studios in Hollywood...
Frank mentions at the beginning of the show that they're recording with three microphones set up across the front of the stage.
The LP kicks off with a cool version of Big Leg Emma, but Frank explains that that was just some "warm up trash" to get the audience ready for some serious music that'll be "better for you in the long run". The six minute instrumental track that follows sounds like Edgar Varese music performed by rock band, and contains some bits and pieces that would turn up on later Zappa albums. After that Frank reads some requests handed to him by the audience, and decides to play one of them - Status Back Baby - but warns that the band rarely plays that song, so it's going to sound "crappy". But they pretty much nail it, even the Stravinsky quotes in the middle. Then FZ explains about the Mothers releasing Valarie and Big Leg Emma as singles, and wonders aloud why they didn't do well because they're "every bit as imbecilic as Yummy, Yummy, Yummy." Next comes another pop song, although a more twisted and dark one - My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama. This one probably could have been a hit; it's the story of a young rocker who's girlfriend's parents can't stand him. This live version turns the song into a jam at the end which stretches it out to almost seven minutes, with the album side ending in mid-jam with the sound of the needle being ripped across the record. All of side two is comprised of a lengthy jam that combines Uncle Meat with King Kong, both from the Uncle Meat album. One will note hearing several other themes in the lengthy jam, including what sounds like part of Inca Roads(which wouldn't be released in its entirety for several years). Once again, this side ends suddenly in mid-jam, this time with what sounds like a radio being turned off.Intro
