PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE Original 1967 first pressing vinyl in thick gatefold cover of the great solo album by Bruce Palmer and his psychedelic jam record. Bruce Palmer was the first bass player for Buffalo Springfield. He came down from Canada with Neil Young. Unfortunately, he had to leave early on due to marijuana busts of all things. And by the sound of this album those arrests did not stop the psychedlic smoke, because it sure comes out on this record.
Well you'll be happy to know that along with Neil Young, Steve Stills, Richie Furay's post Springfield solo efforts the group's rhythm section was busy as well, and the real find is this LP by the band's mysterious bass player and resident illegal alien Bruce Palmer.
A really great trancy psychedelic album with only 4 tracks spread across its 2 sides. The Palmer group is largely made up of unknowns including Paul Lagos (drums ) and Templeton Parcely ( violin ) as members of "Incredible" era Kaliedoscope as well as the ever popular Big Black on congas.
The music presented here is a loose trippy sound that reminds a great deal of Can's "Future Days" album -- they compliment each other beautifully.
In case you are wondering Bruce contributes both guitar and Fender bass to the record in addition to writing all 4 songs.
Side One opens with "Alpha-Omega-Apocalypse" which is a lengthy often beautiful instrumetal piece that features Bruce's excellent acoustic guitar solo's, some real nice organ playing by Ed Roth and some fine work by Richard Aplan on oboe and flute. The only other track on Side 1 is "Interlude" which is just that a brief but thoughtful keys/guitar interlude that sets you up nicely for Side 2.
Side 2 begins with "OXO" which is truly beautiful, Palmer plays some brilliant trippy electric guitar lines that are somewhere between Jerry Garcia circa 1967 and Mike Bloomfield of the same vintage, Aplan plays a very aggressive flute on this one and the whole number ends up sounding like the "live" side of Traffic's "Last Exit" album, towards the end of the song a singer breaks in who sounds like Buddy Miles and Richie Havens blended into one.
The record finishes with "Calm Before The Storm" which is an eerie thing that sounds tailor made for early Pink Floyd; really potent stuff for sure. And there you have it "The Cycle Is Complete" is complete. It's hard to imagine how Verve Forecast tried to market this record as it really didn't have a prayer of getting radio play. But in truth this is a well played, well composed record that just begs to be re-discovered, try to get it if you have a chance. (rare...)

CONDITION: The cover: Thick gatefold front cover has a little light shelf wear starting which is to be expected - it's a very acceptable/collection worthy VG++ ...with the dark colors and 50 years later, any surviving copy even lucky to be found has much more wear than this ... definitely a keeper copy, especially given the rarity. The back cover with shelf wear, PROMO STICKER and otherwise strong/strong, fresh original colors, no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: is CLEAN M- with clean labels on both sides...plays nice and enjoyable. both WHITE LABEL "VERVE" PROMO labels are clean
