PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Harder to find 1967 ((original pressing)) of the second and last Lp by this cool West Coast band featuring dynamic vocals by Sandy Robison....on the 360 Sound Columbia label
The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, a Hollywood based group (not San Francisco) was one of the top groups on the West Coast at the time of these lps (1967 - 68), at least in personal appearances, often booked with groups thought today to have been the top artists of the time, such as the Doors, Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf, etc.
The Peanut Butter Conspiracy formed in 1966 from the remains of the folkrock band The Ashes ( In which soon to be Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden played. He left The Ashes to go and play with the Jefferson Airplane ). The Great Conspiracy is their second album. The sound is very West-Coast psychadelic. The opener "Turn On A Friend (To The Good Life)", "Too Many Do" and "Ectasy" will instantly remind you of prime era Jefferson Airplane. The voice of Barbara "Sandi" Ronbinson is atonishing and the guitars full of high wired fuzzy grooves. A great album of the West-Coast psychedelic sixties movement.
Their late '67 single "Turn On a Friend (to the Good Life)" great as it is, failed to chart, but overall they had still sold a fair amount of records for an American rock group of their time. With one album remaining on their Columbia contract, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy undertook recording sessions in New York and L.A. during the latter half of 1967. The result of these sessions was the late '67 "GREAT CONSPIRACY" album, hands down their finest work. This time the group played on every track and handled all the writing themselves. A national tour and the addition of new lead guitarist Bill Wolff (formerly of Sound Machine) had made the PBC a tighter unit instrumentally, and they were able to stretch out the arrangements accordingly. Among the best results were the gorgeous "Lonely Leaf", "Living, Loving Life", spacey "Too Many Do" and "Ecstacy". The lyrics could still be overreaching at times ("Firecracker sky / filled with roots of fusion / trash cans floating by / we're so far ahead we're losin'") but the songs were all melodically adventurous, running the gamut of chord changes and stops and starts. "Too Many Do" garnered significant FM airplay and was one of the first long cuts to be played on the radio. THE GREAT CONSPIRACY some 40+ years later is now highly sought after by many collectors, as it should have been all along...
