Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. RARER THAN ONE MIGHT THINK and in GREAT shape comes this December of 1966 BRITISH yellow & black Parlophone first pressing in GLORIOUS MONO and with nice colorful laminated cover complete with the old "flip-back" seams .... the rare mono issue offers not only a suitable punch in the production that you don't get with stereo version but also different song mixings from the stereo release...very hard to find and certainly a top Beatles collectible!

The was the first opportunity for British listeners to get tracks like "She Loves You," "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "Day Tripper" in LP form (seven of the songs on the album appear on earlier LPs). Released just as the Beatles were entering their psychedelic phase (in December 1966), this overview features wonderful cover art and a wonderfully vague photograph of the group on the back cover in a smoke-filled room. The sequencing here doesn't make all that much sense (it's not chronological, and it seems odd that "A Hard Day's Night" should follow "Day Tripper," for example), but all the songs are phenomenal.
It was Christmas time, 1966. Though hard at work on the beginnings of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, the Beatles had nothing for EMI to put out during the holiday season (aside from the annual Christmas record for the fan club). Revolver had come out in the first week of August, too early to exploit. What to do? So EMI issued this stopgap collection of 16 older recordings for the European market, in effect creating the first "Beatles Greatest Hits" album. Actually, it's not a predictable hits anthology, for it omits obvious hit singles like "Please Please Me" and "Love Me Do," and includes popular album cuts like "Yesterday" and "Michelle" that were not issued as singles in the U.K. But it doesn't skimp on quantity, offering 16 songs instead of the usual 14, taking the saga all the way up to Revolver, and collecting some British singles into album format for the first time. As for English fanatics who simply had to have everything but might balk at purchasing an album entirely composed of retreads, EMI thought of them too, slipping in the great underrated rocker "Bad Boy" for the first time in Britain. The front cover is a period piece of Carnaby Street kitsch, while the back features a casual Beatles photo circa 1966. Today the album seems like a fantastic summing up of the Beatles' achievement just before the plunge into "Strawberry Fields" and Sgt. Mono/Stereo Differences
"From Me To You" The mono version includes harmonica in the intro, which is noticably absent on the stereo version. "Help !" The mono and stereo versions have the same instrumental track, but different vocals. "Yellow Submarine" The mono version has an opening guitar chord, which is missing on the stereo version.The mono version has John's shouted repeats of Ringo's lines beginning one line sooner, and louder than on the stereo version. "A Hard Day's Night" The stereo version is a few seconds longer than the mono version.

CONDITION: The Cover: Beautiful shape for this 46 year old MONO delicate UK first printing with laminated cover and flipback seams, it's rated CLEAN "EX" (excellent) with really only a little visible careful past handling... no bends, no split seams, no writing... you can't find a better copy avail, can you?
The Vinyl: very clean over both sides...the original glossy luster is still there, it's rated "EX" (excellent) having no more than little fine paper scuffs from the inner sleeve - very minor ... expect audio playback to be wonderful and in MONO!
