Dutch - Philips - 687 - 341 TL
The 'real deal' = 1965, very rare, original first pressing of the legendary very first PRETTY THINGS ...This is the Dutch original which is cool as the Pretty Things were Gods in Holland and this album has a different back cover with cool photographs of the band in '65 ... equally as great as ANYTHING the early STONES ever did, rare and frantic rave-ups amid melodic infusions...many many bands tried to copy the PRETTY THINGS style & sound, but no one couple ever equal them...
This, their debut, is raw Brit r&b played with swagger and attitude. Think early Stones but with more personality. This and the Who's My Generation are two of my favorite debuts because both are played with such abandon. The sense of aggression and good times comes thru in the grooves. Tho' mostly, if not all, covers, the Pretties' take what was standard and clearly make them their own songs. The foundation for the greatness that follows and a should be recognized classic from that time.
In the mid-60s is was fashionable to be the wildest band of the planet. When the Pretties arrived, they were presented as wilder than The Rolling Stones. Phil May's voice has got the power and toughness (he shouts to be a real bad boy) of Mick Jagger, Van Morrison and Eric Burdon.
The Pretties first producer, Jack Beverstock said when he first met them: "I'm not staying down there with this bunch of animals!". The band had been presented to him as: "Five unruly youths with a passion for rhythm, blues and random acts of senseless mayhem".
We can understand he could be powerless in taming the guys!
Now the music is the similar rhythm n'blues made by the Stones, Them, Kinks etc. And it's quite interesting...

CONDITION: The laminated front cover has some light handling spider veins, strong seams, VG+(+) and the back cover is VG++ ...each track has notes on the style and tempo as well as unique photos of the band and an overview of the young Pretties...
The vinyl: here is proof that wonder vinyl use to exist ...visually the surface has numerous light scuffs and stylus marks = VG, however the deep groove pressing contains high end vibrant clear sound that blows away repressings, not only that but any surface noise is barely noticable, well below the music levels you may here light passive tick or pop, nothing disturbing that gets in the way of enjoyment...there you have it, wonder vinyl deep groove thick platter from 1965.
