RARE FIRST JAN & DEAN ORIGINAL ISSUE LP ON THE DORE BLUE LABEL!
Jan and Dean were an American rock duo consisting of William Jan Berry (April 3, 1941 – March 26, 2004) and Dean Ormsby Torrence (born March 10, 1940). In the early 1960s, they were pioneers of the California Sound and vocal surf music styles popularized by the Beach Boys. Among their most successful songs was "Surf City", which topped US record charts in 1963, the first surf song to do so. Their other charting singles were "Drag City" (1963), "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena" (1964), and "Dead Man's Curve" (1964); the last of which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008.
1) Jan & Dean (1960) – (Dore-(M)-LP-101) - FIRST LP -RARE Original Issue Blue Label Album is produced by Herb Albert and Lou Adler. Included in LP is their first hit single "Baby Talk"(1959). This was their first song to contain a few of the soon-to-be famous elements that became associated with surf music. CONDITION: Vinyl= Very Good +. Cover= Very Good. Splitting of upper and lower seams but has clean bright color.
2) Surf City and Other Swingin’ Cities (1963) – (Liberty- LST-7314) CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover= Very Good +. Bottom seam is split.
3) Command Performance/Live In Person (1964) – (Liberty-LRP-3403) - Including songs performed on the TAMI Show TV special. CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover= Excellent.
4) Surf City / She’s My Summer Girl (1963) – (Liberty-55580) - 45 RPM Single. CONDITION: Vinyl= VG+
5) Dead Man’s Curve / The New Girl In School 1964) – (Liberty – 55672) - 45 RPM Single With Original Picture Sleeve. CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover= VG+
