This rare vinyl is an original c1958 Extended Play entitled "The Stroll" by Clyde Otis and His Smoothies, Kapp Records EP No. KE-755, Silver/Blue label. The vinyl is in mint, unplayed condition retaining all of its original shine and beautiful surface; the original heavy weighted card stock sleeve is in mint condition as well.

Clyde Otis was a legendary songwriter and producer best known for his collaboration with singer Brook Benton, and for being one of the first African American A&R executive for a major label.

When he joined Mercury Records in 1958, Otis began writing and producing material for Brook Benton, and their collaboration led to Rock 'n' Roll classics "It's Just a Matter of Time," "Endlessly," "So Many Ways," "Kiddio," and "The Boll Weevil Song." Otis also produced a number of duets between Benton and Dinah Washington, among them "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" and "A Rockin' Good Way (To Mess Around and Fall in Love)"; he worked on Washington's solo efforts, most notably the classic "What a Difference a Day Makes" and "This Bitter Earth."

Otis also produced the monster hit "The Stroll" for The Diamonds as well as and hits for Sarah Vaughan ("Broken-Hearted Melody"), Timi Yuro ("Hurt"), Bobby Blue Bland's "I'll Take Care of You," and Nat King Cole's hit, "Looking Back." He also penned songs for other musical stars including Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley.

Please note that the record has been kept in a protective mylar sleeve which will be included with the record.

A very scarce vinyl and sleeve worthy of any vintage record collection.
