*RARELY FOUND* 1900 7 INCH IMPROVED GRAMOPHONE RECORD A-226 MANUFACTURED BY CONSOLIDATED TALKING MACHINE COMPANY PHILADELPHIA, PA.

This is "DANCE OF THE HOBOES" PICCOLO SOLO by GEORGE SCHWEINFEST.

This was THE VERY FIRST PAPER LABEL RECORD and this label was made for only a few short months in 1900 making the label very rare indeed. 

This record plays through on my modern turntable with light weight tone arm.  I had to gently nudge the tone arm to get past the first heavily worn lead-in grooves and after that it plays through just fine with expected high surface noise. 

The record label and the record surface have plenty of wear and plenty of scratches and scuffs but from a historical perspective this is an important early record label.
