Randy Holden: "Population II" 1969, USA/Hobbit HB 5002. Disc is in beautiful EX to M- shape except for a small scuff on the opening cut that makes a few pops as the song goes almost silent at that particular spot, still an EX disc I think. Cover has ringwear on the front, seams are tight with no splits, back cover is M-, this cover gets a VG grade. Has a drill hole near the center of the jacket which also goes through the LP label. Incredibly rare original pressing of this legendary heavy psych LP! I've only had three original copies of this LP since the early 1980s, and that's a lot of California record stores scoured, man. All had the same drill hole, and none were M-. This is as nice a copy as I've ever seen! There are a lot of counterfeits of this LP out there at this point which makes buying one on ebay a major gamble. Rest assured I know a real one when it's in my hands, and this is the real thing for sure. Jaw-dropping Hendrix-influenced heavy guitar crusher with endless doomy leaden riffing and soloing, it's a major rush for guitar freaks like me but be warned... folkies and Beach Boys fans will NOT dig it in the least. This is a blacklight room stoner rock delight and should be bid upon by those with that mindset. Pretty amazing pedigree on this LP when you consider Randy was guitarist of Blue Cheer, The Other Half, and The Sons Of Adam, and the drummer Chris Lockheed was formerly with Kak. This is as good as it gets for over-the-top stoned-out guitar pyrotechnics.
