Description
Up for auction is this RAMONES - Rocket to Russia LP album. This was originally released on
November 4th, 1977 by Sire Records. Currently, there are more than 75 versions of this album out
there including but not limited to the following: CD's, Lp's, Colored Vinyl, Picture Disc, Cassette,
Represses, Reissues, Remastered, Unofficial Releases(Bootlegs), and even 2 different versions
on 8-track cassette!! Wow, that's a lot of different versions!! This version you are bidding on is a
REPRESS from 1994 & the 1st Repress from the United States. The vinyl album itself looks brand
new and pretty much near perfect & has ONLY BEEN PLAYED ONE TIME!! This "Super Saver Series"
album has a thin clear plastic inner sleeve which has several folds n creases in it. The outer cardboard
sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition or better with the original plastic shrinkwrap still on it. Overall, an
awesome copy for your Ramones collection that's only a fraction of the price of an original 1st pressing
because of the "Super Saver Series" main goal to do just that!!
To say that the Ramones changed the way we look at music today would be such an
understatement. They influenced a countless number of musicians during their brief 22
years of playing. No other band in history toured pretty much non-stop for the whole 22
years of their career like they did. This album "Rocket to Russia" was the band's highest
charting album to this day, reaching #49 on the Billboard 200. Rolling Stone critic Dave
Marsh called it "The Greatest Rock 'n Roll Album of the Year"!! The album also featured
the first ever Ramones single to date to ever enter the Billboard Charts. It was "Sheena
is a Punk Rocker" which reached #81. The follow-up single "Rockaway Beach" reached
#66 - the highest any Ramones single would ever reach in America. At the Ramones'
first ever British show, which was at London's Roundhouse Concert Hall on the Fourth
of July in 1976(The Bicentennial), Johnny Ramone was sitting & chatting with a bass
player & asked him: "Do you play in a band?" He replied "No. We just practice. We're
not good enough." to which Johnny replied "Wait 'till you see us, we stink!" That bass
player was none other than Paul Simomon, the bass player for The Clash, who
was opening up that night for The Sex Pistols.
**NOTICE!!** - Please take note that all my auctions have a 5 business day handling
time. Business days are Monday - Friday. Most of the time I get them mailed before
the 5 days are up. On rare occasions I might mail out your item(s) on a Saturday,
but that doesn't neccesarily mean your package will arrive sooner. The mail
routes are screwy b/c the shortest ones don't mean that they're faster. I've
had a package get from Omaha, NE, & delivered all the way up to Maine
by the next day. But on the same note, I had a parcel take 9 days to get
to Illinois. How is that possible?!?
