Note : il batterista jazz Ralph Ferraro arrivò dagli Stati Uniti in Italia alla fine degli anni cinquanta distinguendosi subito sia come musicista che valido arrangiatore collaborando frequentemente con i nostri migliori compositori di colonne sonore ed in particolare con Piero Piccioni e Armando Trovaioli. Questo disco contiene 12 covers da importanti colonne sonore per film. Tuttavia questo è solo un pretesto per fare della buona musica jazz. Le sue rielaborazioni e i suoi arrangiamenti sono tutti in chiave totalmente jazzistica tale da rendere quasi irriconoscibili i temi originali. Con lui altri ottimi musicisti presenti in quel periodo nelle registrazioni di Piero Piccioni  (forse Livio Cerveglieri al sax tenore, forse Gino Marinacci al flauto, forse Franco Chiari al vibrafono....) ma sfortunatamente non essendo i loro nomi riportati su i vari crediti del retro copertina non posso fornire la loro vera identità. Impossibile segnalare qualche brano in particolare : sono tutti validissimi, pienamente jazz con andamenti sonori sia lenti che ben ritmati.

Notes : jazz drummer Ralph Ferraro arrived from the States to Italy at the end of the fifties. He stood out soon for his great talent as musician and arranger collaborating frequently with the best Italian composers, especially with Piccioni and Trovaioli.  This album features 12 covers from important film soundtracks. All the same it's only an excuse for performing good jazz music. His revisions and arrangements are totally in jazz vein such as to make unrecognizable the original versions. Together him other excellent soloists taking part at the recording sessions of Piero Piccioni on those same years (perhaps Livio Cerveglieri on tenor sax, perhaps Gino Marinacci on flute, perhaps Franco Chiari on vibes.....). Unfortunately their names are not written on the various credits of the back cover and so I can't report their true identities. It is impossible to mention some special tune : all the tracks have an excellent jazz tapestry with slow or fast developments.
