THE RAINY DAZE – “That Acapulco Gold” (1967) UNI-3002 original MONO pressing M-/EX (cover/record)

This has long been one of my favorite 1960s psych-pop albums, and it’s got a really fun mix of vibes and compositions. There’s pop-psych (“In My Mind Lives a Forest”), fuzz psych (the Beatles-like “Weatherman”), Eastern psychedelia (“Snow and Ice and Burning Sand” – great!), some fast rockers, and even a few soul-rock numbers like “Shake” and “Knock on Wood” they also cover the Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth.” The title track was a bit of a radio hit but was pulled once programmers realized its pro-marijuana sentiment. The band hailed from Denver, Colorado, and was signed early by Phil Spector before he hit a rough patch in his career when his “River Deep, Mountain High” production for Ike and Tina Turner failed commercially. A great 1960s record.

This is an original MONO copy. The cover is beautiful and in the original shrink wrap. The vinyl looks pristine aside from one tiny hairline scratch across the last two songs of Side 1 – “Knock on Wood” and “Respect” and is barely audible at all. Conservative grading: M-/EX (cover/record).

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
