Description
Queen, News of the World, Test pressing, Elektra Records, Columbia Records Productions, 1977 Some cool stuff drifts down from the Hollywood rock mill once in awhile. This is one such item.
Though many test pressings exist few are from classic, rock records. Freddie Mercury found right during his resurgence as a true star. A rock gem you will NOT soon see again.
This is an Elektra internal item so someone in 1977 listened to this at work in Hollywood. Promotions, execs., recording folks, you tell me. The numbers in the trail off vinyl are GE - 112 - A - 8 CSM and same but B (not A) on side B. and the name Nick W.
This is rare. It is in excellent condition. I almost cannot bare to put it up for sale. It is not mint. The paper of the jacket and cover info. is 40+ years old and has yellowed a bit. The labels on the record show a single spindle mark - imagine who that person was. No writing on the labels.
When play testing, and I hated to do even that, the spindle hole proved tight/new feeling.
The record was quiet, flat and clean sounding. Shiny, something I would keep for myself or give as a gift with no reservations. I see no scratches nor compressions. It is completely flat, no warps.
I did the best I could with the photos, tough showing all the grooves via photos. Its a cool keeper, believe me. Not mint (nothing is mint) but, very good condition.
It is, in my view, a piece of rock history.
I will bubble wrap and double box this one and cry when it leaves.
