Queen
A Night at the Opera
EMI 1975 - EMTC 103
Queen’s best known album, the recording of which played a large part in the recent biopic about the band.
The album contains Bohemian Rhapsody, often voted the best song ever written!
The Discogs website has a comprehensive list of all the variations of this initial pressing and the copy for sale here has all the elements of the very first variant:
‘Blairs’ etched on both Side 1 AND Side 2
Matrix / Runout (Variation 1, side A, stamped): YAX 5063-2
Matrix / Runout (Variation 1, side B, stamped): YAX 5064-2
The sleeve is VG+ with a readable spine and just minor discolouration on the white surface Internally the gatefold is excellent.
The stiff card inner with three cut corners as required for the first pressings, is also easily Excellent - prone to rubbing and ringwear, this is a crisp, vibrant copy with just a small split on the edge opposite the opening. A lovely example - the vinyl is now housed in a brand new generic poly lined inner.
The vinyl is visually Excellent with just a couple of light surface marks but retaining a beautiful surface sheen. The audio is excellent - There is a small amount of interference here and timers but the music remains very much at the forefront throughout.
Overall a great example of a sought after record.
