Description

An original 1st press of OPERA on UK EMI. Matrix 2/3. The vinyl comes housed in a non-laminated gatefold cover which is embossed on the front. Note that the left side is sealed forming a nice solid opening panel. We also have the original bespoke inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen lightest use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. If you're an out-and-out Queen fan and really need the absolute best from the audio you can possibly obtain - well worth taking a closer look at this copy. They don't all surface from '75 looking or sounding like this example! This rendition is pretty much as good as I've ever witnessed. It will give the listener maximum opportunity to hear this title as intended beautifully clean from the original masters. I doubt you'll find a better copy for audio. Plays clean in nearly all areas. Slow-builds. Low-key numbers and the intro to Rhapsody. At worst a few crackles in the intro to 'Love Of My Life'. Nothing upfront - it just won't pay perfectly clean in the opening moments. But other than that - expect a fantastic rendition.
Cover (Ex) Again, don't be thinking that this cover is easy to find in this condition. Only a small fraction of copies survive the passage of time and surface looking anywhere near this nice. Firstly, on nearly all copies you will find ageing - to a degree. On some copies it will be pretty obvious on others it will be low-level and difficult to pick up in the photos. Let me assure you the photos are a proper representation of the cover - it is fully white without ageing. There's no surface wear observable against the embossing. The only thing which is very low-level is slightest signs of handling. The interior is nigh on perfect - literally perfectly white. Lovely firm and crisp opening panel with excellent rigidity. Very little edge wear at all which is highly unusual on this title. The spine is 100% intact and the openings firm and sharp. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) The only let down is the inner. There's a two inch split at the foot [as is very common]. I have performed an internal tape repair and inked over the damage. So it is just a cosmetic issue and doesn't gape.
