Visual grading

This is one beautiful looking vinyl!  With only one or two plays at most there are only a couple of mega faint spindle lines and the vinyl has retained an immaculate, pristine quality that is so rarely seen on a first pressing.  There are only a couple of very faint, tiny hairlines on S2 and there are no scratches to be seen.  The run out grooves are super clean and this is the most impressive first press I have seen for a long time.  The audio as detailed below is of the highest calibre.

Play grading  

'Party' begins S1 with what can only be described as Mint audio, the power and clarity is superb.  There is quite simply no interference at all, not even a solitary dust tick.  A stunning start.  This standard continues with 'Khashoggi's Ship' which again plays with sublime quality.  The depth of the recording and the strong bass sound here is awesome.  I am already running out of suitable adjectives because 'The Miracle' also plays with the same immaculate quality!  Once more there is no 'background', you could not find a better version!  From the very first note the audio is stunning, pure sublime Mint quality throughout with no 'background' on the fade out either.  Now approaching 30 years old the clarity and depth of the audio on offer here pays testament to how well it has been preserved.  'I Want It All' plays loud and true with great power and no distortion at all.  Again there are no clicks or pops, static or crackle and no 'background' on the fade out either.  'The Invisible Man' ends the side with audio of the highest calibre.  The bass is again so deep and the entire track plays 'as new' without doubt.  A truly stunning version and again no 'background' on the fade out.

The intro on 'Breakthru' always has some 'background' I find but there is barely any static here, just a few seconds and it is very quiet and totally non-intrusive.  Once the track 'gets going' there are a small number of light clicks but again they are very much in the background and only a couple are a little louder.  Thereafter the audio plays 'as new' with no other interference.  'Rain Must Fall' is stunning from start to finish and has no clicks, pops, static or crackle.  It plays with great depth and of course a very strong bass sound.  The classic 'Scandal' has a couple of light 'ticks' on the intro and the remainder plays with wonderful depth and precision, there is just nothing that detracts from the superb sonic quality on offer.  'My Baby Does Me' is Mint without question as there is no interference at all.  It is a 'high end' version for certain and even the long quiet fade out plays 'as new' with no 'background'.  The intro on 'Was It All Worth It' is so impressive and plays without fault.  Perfect basically!  Final tracks on any side regularly have some distortion and I am pleased to say there is none here at all.  It plays with incredible power and depth and provides a breathtaking finale to the album.  A stunning version!  And...barely any 'background' on the quiet end section.

In summary this A1/B2 first pressing plays with fantastic quality and is almost Mint throughout apart from a little interference on the one track on S2.  The clarity and depth is so impressive and will not disappoint any collector.  Both the iconic cover and lyric inner are also in lovely condition.

The Cover

So often found in poor condition this iconic cover is in great condition with only very minor wear.  The edges are nigh on perfect with only a couple of tiny 'rub' marks and the thin spine has only a little corner wear at the top.  The other corners have minimal wear.  The opening edge has no handling wear whatsoever.  The front and back cover are remarkable clean with no marking or creasing at all.  A very impressive version overall.

The Lyric inner

This is in superb condition with no marking or creasing and no side splits either.  You could not find a better one, absolutely stunning!

The labels

They are in near perfect condition with only a couple of tiny spindle traces on S1 and only a little more on S2.  They have no marking/writing and look practically 'as new'.
