Don't miss this opportunity to own one of the finest 1973 CLASSIC HARD ROCK Albums of all time.

Now this copy I have in hand I feel is extra special and almost certainly very rare. The information I can find on this may mean this is an EMI "Conference Custom" pressing of this album. The few previous examples I have offered have had YAX 4623-3U / YAX 4624-3U matrixes and the dead-wax area messages are: "KIP - HUGGYPOO KISSY" and "AGAIN!" This I truly believed to be a first issue , and without doubt it is very early. But this one is very different. Not only is the side two matrix even earlier being YAX 4624-2U, the dead-wax area message on this side is TOTALLY different being: "OFF WITH HIS HEAD". Clearly the "Off With His Head" message was very quickly dropped and changed to "AGAIN" , this, along with the "Huggypoo" was then totally changed to "BLAIR" and "BLAIR RULES" for "second pressings". I have seen many examples of this record over the years, most being the "Blair" version with a smaller few "Huggypoo" / "Again" ones. I simply did not know an "Off With His Head" etching even existed. The Net sources state, at the request of Freddie Mercury, these initial messages were made on Test pressings and clearly a few with standard EMI labels as well. The Test pressings are beyond rare, but how many of these exist either? Finding this debut album with low stampers is hard enough itself and now with a very rare appropriate message engraved , with reference to the Queen of Hearts in "Alice in Wonderland" , this will be a significant collectable edition for serious Queen collectors. I would now be pretty certain, this version was only with initial runs of this album, and when this was first pressed, few people had even heard of the band.

Queen is the eponymous debut album by the British rock group, released in July 1973. It was recorded at Trident Studios and De Lane Lea Music Centre, London, with production by Roy Thomas Baker (as Roy Baker), John Anthony and Queen.

The album was influenced by the progressive rock, hard rock, and heavy metal of the day and covers subjects such as folklore ("My Fairy King") and religion ("Jesus"). Lead singer Freddie Mercury composed five of the ten tracks, guitarist Brian May composed four songs, (including "Doing All Right", which was co-written by Smile band-mate Tim Staffell), and drummer Roger Taylor composed and sang "Modern Times Rock and Roll". The final song on the album is a short instrumental version of "Seven Seas of Rhye". The band included the comment 'And nobody played synthesiser' on the album sleeve, a purist principle of May's, as some listeners had mistaken their elaborate multi-tracking and effects processed by guitar and vocal sounds as synthesisers.

Bassist John Deacon was credited on the sleeve notes of the original vinyl release as "Deacon John".

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS , PLEASE ASK ME , YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED

All records are professionally cleaned using a MOTH cleaning system prior to despatch. Not only does this wet clean/vacuuming process remove surface marks such as fingerprints, etc, it also significantly reduces background noise and many argue that the lower noise floor results in opening up of the sound and improved fidelity.

A word about hairline marks. It is almost impossible to find any non-sealed record without any hairline marks - many had them from new, particularly if sold with cardboard inner sleeves. They are a result of storage and use and have little impact on sound quality.

I package my records in the strongest purpose made mailers for maximum safety.

All records are removed from their picture sleeves where appropriate and posted in a separate plain white inner to avoid damage during transit.

The following is the scale I use to grade my records , please buy with confidence.

MINT:

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks

or deterioration in sound quality.

The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT:

The record shows some signs of having been played,

but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

The vinyl may have some hairline surface scuffs which will be only slightly visible.

The cover and packaging might have minor wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:

The record has obviously been played many times,

but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,

despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,

is acceptable.

GOOD:

The record has been played so much

that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated.

perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

The cover suffers from folding, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
