Queen : Live Magic

This stunning 'live' album plays with wonderful clarity and hardly any interference, the vast majority plays 'as new'.  I would say it has only been played 2/3 times at most as I can only detect one mega small spindle trace and the vinyl is in pristine condition.

The gatefold and picture inner are also in sublime condition and rarely are they seen as impressive as this.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in fantastic condition and judging by the lack of spindle wear has hardly ever been on a turntable as all I can see is one very faint spindle trace on S1.  There are no obvious sleeve removal hairlines and there are no scratches or marks at all.  It retains a lovely glossy sheen and rarely have I seen one this 'clean'.  The labels and run out grooves are also in immaculate condition.

Play grading  

'One Vision' plays to the highest standard possible and the power and depth is stunning.  You can turn it up loud without fear of distortion and with no interference this opening track grades as Mint for sure.  I have never heard a better 'live' version of 'Tie Your Mother Down' and that pays testament to how well this vinyl has been preserved down the years.  As you progress further into S1 this clarity is maintained and the only 'background' is one light click on 'Under Pressure' during the quiet middle section.  Aside from that it plays with perfect precision.  'Another One Bites The Dust' ends the side with audio that defies its age!  There is no interference and the depth of the bass is phenomenal, another Mint track without doubt.  The 'dah-doh' section that follows is also 'as new' and in fact all of Freddie's spoken sections 'play' with perfect clarity.  There is not even a dust tick and in essence the clarity across the entire side is sensational apart from one second!

'I Want To Break Free' on S2 keeps up this fine standard and plays without fault.  The definition of each note is sublime and there is no interference whatsoever.  'Is This The World We Created?' is very impressive with only 4/5 seconds of very light static towards the end of the first verse.  The remainder is stunning.  'Bohemian Rhapsody' is breathtaking from the very first note and continues in the same manner.  You could not wish for a stronger 'live' version - there is no interference and every second plays with 'high end' clarity and again there is no distortion on the top end.  'Hammer To Fall' is absolutely mind-blowing and plays 'as new'!  It 'rocks out' loud and true and easily qualifies as Mint the power and depth is off the scale!  'Radio Ga Ga' plays to the same immaculate standard and having listened to every second of the album I can confidently say the remainder is of the same quality.  'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' end this underrated live album with 'high end' audio no distortion at all.  There is a minimal touch of mega light static on 'God Save The Queen' but in no way is it intrusive.

In summary this album plays with incredible power and depth and barely any interference as stated.  It will be 33 years old this year and it is clear that this vinyl has only been played a couple of times at most as the clarity and definition of the audio could scarcely be any better.  The gatefold is also in superb condition as is the picture inner.

The Gatefold

The cover is in superb condition with barely any shelf wear.  It is regularly found in poor condition but this one has hardly ever been handled and remains very strong and robust.  The edges are in great condition and the only rubbing is a very small amount on the bottom edges near the right hand corners and a little at the top and bottom of the spine - the remainder of the wide spine is in perfect order.  The other corners have hardly any wear and remain in excellent shape and there is no handling wear on the  opening edge either, it is perfect!  The front and back cover are beautifully clean with no marking etc and the inside of the gatefold is also pristine.  This is a superb example of this gatefold, you won't find many better!

The Picture Inner

In a word...stunning!  This card inner has no wear and is 'as new' as the day when released back in '86.  Not bad for 33 years old!

The Labels

Almost 'as new' they could not be any cleaner.  They have no marking or writing and no obvious spindle wear as stated.  Superb!
