Jazz 1U/1U First Press with Poster

This is a stunning first press and probably the best I have ever seen and heard.  It includes the iconic poster (unattached) which remains in superb condition.  As per the first/early pressings it has the embossed 'Jazz' logo on both the front and back cover.

Visual grading

With only a handful of fine hairlines, due to sleeve removal, this vinyl still retains that lovely glossy sheen.  It has no spindle wear and has obviously been hardly played and the audio quality confirms that.  Visually it is absolutely stunning.  The gatefold is also in superlative condition.  

Play grading  

Audio does not get better than this!  I have played the record in its entirety and was blown away by the quality of this first pressing.  'Mustapha' has no lead in static at all and then plays with Mint audio.  This breathtaking quality continues throughout the side.  I cannot stress enough just how good it sounds!  If you want a final upgrade first press then this is the one to own!  The odd very light dust tick perhaps, which you will find on any vinyl old or new, but no clicks, pops or crackle anywhere.  Even 'Let Me Entertain You' plays in superlative style.  I often find it plays with distortion but here the clarity is first class.  The fade out at the end of the track does play with a little crackle - 3/4 seconds - how many sellers would mention that?!!

Again Side Two has no lead in static and 'Dead On Time' plays as per new vinyl let alone one that is nearing 40 years!  There is complete silence prior to 'In Only Seven Days' starting and wow how well does it play?!  I honestly do not think I've heard a better version.  Quite simply it plays as Mint.  'Dreamers Ball' has a handful of very quiet dust ticks but are not intrusive and the depth and warmth of the sound remains first rate.  The remaining tracks play with stunning quality and with no interference.  A fantastic listen.

In summary it is so rare to find a Mint 1U/1U pressing but this is as close to one as you will find.  The clarity and richness across every track and the amazing lack of interference makes this a genuine final upgrade copy.

Gatefold cover

The G & L cover is so very nearly 100% perfect.  It is only the corners that have a very minor amount of shelf wear although I would say hardly noticeable.  I hope the photos do it justice because it is without doubt one of the cleanest I have seen, it is in remarkable condition for a first press cover.  Released in 1978?  You wouldn't know!  The edges and spine are beautifully clean as is the front cover and inside of the gatefold.  The white back cover you often find discoloured or stained but this one again is in superb shape with only a couple of tiny marks.  So well maintained this cover is just a shade off being Mint, absolutely stunning, nearly impossible to find better.

This picture inner (with rounded corners) is in perfect condition with no splits or wear.

The labels

They are both in Mint condition with no spindle wear or marks/writing at all.

The poster

The poster whilst unattached is still in wonderful condition with no tears/writing and only has very minor fraying on the perforated edge where it was separated from the cover
