Description

Queen : Innuendo 1st Press A2 / B2

This is a rare version of Innuendo in that it has a 'Manufacturers Property - Not For Sale' sticker on the back cover and comes complete with four Lipsey Meade (PR Company) publicity photo prints and a Queen Biography 1990/1991.

This original first pressing from 1991 plays to a superb standard overall with only minimal interference on S2.  The clarity and depth of the audio on both sides is so good and the vast majority is 'as new'.

The cover is in excellent condition with just some light foxing on the front cover and the lyric inner is pristine.  The four photo prints and Queen biography are also in perfect condition.

Royal Mail shipping costs have massively increased recently and these are shown below.  Please could you wait before making payment so I can calculate the exact cost.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in excellent condition and retains a very healthy glossy sheen.  There are no scratches and I can only detect a couple of very faint marks and a few faint sleeve removal hairlines.  S1 has one tiny heat 'bump' caused during the manufacture but this has no affect on the audio and S2 also has a couple of faint 'fade' marks often caused by being inside a cover for so long.  Again this has no bearing on the sound quality.  I suspect this has only ever been lightly played as I cannot detect any spindle wear on the labels.

Play grading

The intro on 'Innuendo' is 'as new' and the first verse also plays to the same sublime standard.  It continues to play with stunning power and depth - the playback is stunning!  For once the quiet Spanish guitar section plays beautifully with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks.  This is so rare as this passage often has a fair amount of static/crackle.  Not here!  The remainder of this 'Spanish' section is faultless and then as we get back into the 'heavier' part of the track the audio is phenomenal!  I cannot over-emphasise just how strong the playback is and 'as new' is no exaggeration.  Just a mega small amount of light static at the end of the fade out.  This truly is an outstanding version of this classic and Mint- is an easy grade to give here.

'I'm Going Slightly Mad' is equally as good and what is clear is that this vinyl has hardly been played.  Otherwise the clarity and definition of the audio would be nowhere near as good as this.  This is Mint from start to finish.

'Headlong' plays with great power and depth with no sign of any interference.  I did detect a couple of mega light background ticks but they are so quiet and easily missed.  I'm sure all sellers who playtest would not even mention this so I'm not sure why I am!  A stunning Mint- version with no clicks, pops and no static or crackle either.

From start to finish 'I Can't Live With You' plays with a definition and power that is awesome!  This track often plays with some distortion I find but that is not the case here and is another indication of a vinyl that has hardly ever been on a turntable.  Remember this is now nearly 30 years old and for it to play this well is a rarity.  Another Mint track :-)

The intro on 'Ride The Wild Wind' has only a minor touch of barely audible static and then plays to a STUNNING level in every way!  I go on about clarity and definition so much but that is how any vinyl should be judged of course and nowhere is it more obvious than here.  With no inner groove distortion this is as good as the preceding tracks and it provides a Mint finish to the side.

--------------------------------------------------------------

'All God's People' does have three light clicks on the intro but of course the music is rather loud here so this interference is not too intrusive.  From then on it plays as per S1 with wonderful clarity and depth.  There is no interference and again the 'sound' quality is outstanding - the long fade out has no 'background' at all.  So the intro here is VG+ (briefly!) but the remainder is Mint without doubt.

What follows is a stunning version of the classic 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' that quite simply plays with breathtaking clarity throughout.  I just heard one very faint tick and 'as new' is a fair assessment.  I grade with honesty as my regulars know and this is a beautiful version for sure.  Mint-

'Delilah' is perfect from the first note to the last with no interference whatsoever.  This is Mint every day of the week!

The intro on 'Don't Try So Hard' is near perfect with only a couple of seconds of mega light static and then plays with great clarity I am pleased to say.  This is the one track on the album that often plays with some interference and the vast majority does indeed play exceptionally well.  There are just four light static ticks on the final line so this momentary section grades as VG+ but the rest is Mint- without doubt.

'The Hitman' as is often the case plays with such dynamic power and has no interference.  There is no distortion and can be played at maximum level!  This is Mint from start to finish.

'Bijou' plays extremely well with only the bare minimum of light static on the intro.  As the vocal begins the audio cannot be faulted and it really is a very impressive version.  Near Mint

The intro on the classic 'The Show Must Go On' plays with stunning precision and it continues in the same exact way.  It plays to an unbelievable standard the likes of which I have rarely heard before and the sonic quality is so impressive.  This truly is an exceptional version and for once there is no distortion on the top end.  Every section plays with sublime quality and even the quiet 'Go on...' end section has no static etc.  A stunning Mint version to end this classic album.

In summary this first press 'Manufacturers Copy' plays to a superb standard for the vast majority and S1 in particular is stunning.  S2 is almost as good with only a minimal amount of interference as stated.  These promo versions are of course very rare and can only add to its collectability.  A fine version overall.

The Cover & Publicity Info

The glossy cover is in excellent condition and as can be seen it has the 'Manufacturers Property - Not For Sale' sticker on the back.  The only real 'shelf wear' is a little foxing on the front cover which is common with this predominantly white cover.  The 'spots' are faint and certainly not as obvious as you sometimes see.  The top edges has no wear as such, just a few very faint 'spots' and the bottom edge is perfect.  The spine is in great condition with only a handful of faint spots and all four corners are in superb shape with no wear at all.  The opening edge looks untouched and is pristine.  Aside from the light foxing the front cover is very clean and has no marks or scratches and the back cover is near perfect with barely any foxing.  The cover itself remains very strong as if it hasn't been handled very much at all.

The four 'Lipsey Meade' publicity photo prints (25 x 20cms) and the Queen Biography 1990/1991 (A4 size) are in perfect condition with no marking or creasing.

The Lyric Inner

The glossy lyric inner is also in superb order with no side splits or marking and no creasing either.

The Labels

They are both very clean with no marking or writing and no sign of any spindle wear.
