This first pressing plays to an excellent standard with only minimal interference.  There are a couple of clicks near the end of 'Life Is Real' and minimal static on a couple of tracks but the vast majority plays with great clarity and depth.

The cover is one of the cleanest I have seen and the lyric inner is also in superb condition.

Visual grading

'Staying Power' has only the lightest of static on the intro and from then on plays with very impressive audio and there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  There are a small number of very quiet static sounds on the first half of the track but the remainder plays with stunning quality.  I think Ex+ for the first half and then Mint for the remainder is a fair grade.

The intro on 'Dancer' just has one very light tick and then plays with near perfect precision.  A couple of very quiet static sounds maybe but you have to listen very carefully in order to hear them!  Mint-

'Back Chat' is superb from the very first note and continues to impress I am pleased to say.  The sonic quality cannot be underestimated here and I detected only a couple of very minor ticks, not intrusive in any way.  This often underrated track grades as Mint- in my opinion.

'Body Language' then plays with sublime precision and no interference.  A couple of dust ticks at most this could hardly play any better.  Perhaps not everyone's favourite but a Mint- version nonetheless.

The intro on 'Action This Day' has no interference and it continues to play with great quality throughout.  This final track is often affected by inner groove distortion I find but the audio here is very clean indeed.  I would go so far as to say there is no distortion but will grade as Mint- just to be a little cautious :-)  It is worth noting the long fade out plays perfectly.

The intro on 'Put Out The Fire' is nigh on perfect and Freddie's first vocal is exactly that, perfect with no interference.  It continues to play with genuine quality - the audio is strong and dynamic and grades as Mint-

'Life Is Real' plays very well for the with impressive clarity.  There is a little static towards the end and a couple of clicks so this section is VG but the remainder is Near Mint I would say.

The intro on 'Calling All Girls' has only a couple of light ticks and then plays incredibly well with only one other light tick.  The clarity throughout is superb and it plays with great depth also.  Near Mint

The quiet intro on 'Las Palabras De Amor' is so 'clean' with barely any static and as the volume increases the playback is stunning.  The first vocal has no intrusion and it continues to play with sublime clarity and warmth.  This is a 'high end' version that does not disappoint.  The 'quieter' vocal near the end and the final instrumental section have no 'background' and Mint- is deserved here.

'Cool Cat' plays with great quality from the word go.  This track often has some static/crackle but this version is as close to perfect as could be.  There are only a handful of barely audible static ticks and the clarity is very impressive indeed.  I am sure many would grade higher but I will say Near Mint just to be on the safe side again.

The iconic intro on 'Under Pressure' has only very minimal light static and Bowie's opening vocal is 'as new' and from then on plays with superb audio!  There is just a little static on the 'Turned away from it all like a blind man' line but the vast majority of this classis cannot be faulted.  For once there is no inner groove distortion on the powerful end section (it sounds superb by the way!) and the finger-clicking finale just has a little static.  A Near Mint- finish I would say.

In summary this first pressing plays to an excellent standard with only very minimal interference.  A couple of clicks on S2 and a little light static that about sums it up.  As stated the vinyl is very clean and has certainly not been over-played.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in superb condition with very little shelf wear.  The top edge is mega clean with hardly any rubbing and the bottom edge just has a minimal amount on one small area.  The spine is super clean with only a couple of minor rubs and the corners have very little wear and the same applies to the right hand corners.  The opening edge has no obvious handling wear and the front cover is close to perfect with only one faint scratch line that you only see when you hold it at a certain angle.  The back cover is in fantastic shape!  Overall this is a fine example of this cover.

The lyric inner (with rounded corners) is very clean with no side splits and only a few faint fingerprint type marks.
