GREATEST HITS II

On offer here is one of the best versions of GH2 that I have ever seen and heard.  The LP plays with almost Mint quality audio and the gatefold is not far off Mint itself.

Visual grading

Under a bright light there are no scratches and only a few very faint hairlines no doubt caused by sleeve removal.  There is just one spindle line on Sides 1 and 2 and no spindle wear at all on 3 & 4 so I suspect the vinyls have only been played once or twice maximum, the second vinyl perhaps never.  They both retain that lovely glossy sheen of new vinyl.  Side 2 does have a couple of 'bag rash' marks but they have no affect on the audio at all.

Play grading

Having play tested both vinyls I can confirm the audio is of stunning quality.  Side One plays with immense clarity and almost no static.  There is perhaps just a little distortion during 'I Want To Break Free' but this is often the case on final tracks where the grooves are pressed closer together in order to 'fit' the song on.  'Innuendo' on Side Two has a little interference at the beginning and a couple of faint pops but soon plays with immaculate audio and the Spanish guitar section plays impeccably.  The remainder of the side plays with equal quality. 'Who Wants To Live Forever' in particular has superb audio with barely any static.  This is such a rarity for a song that plays so quietly, the orchestral sections are stunning and it is quite possibly the best version I have heard on a GH2 double vinyl.

Suffice to say the quality on Side 3 is astounding.  I only heard a handful of 'dust ticks' and the clarity is stunning and it is no exaggeration to say the audio plays almost as new on this side.  Side 4 equals it with superb depth and resonance.  'The Show Must Go On' plays as per new vinyl not one that was pressed a quarter of a century ago!  The same can be said for the other tracks also.

Gatefold cover

The gatefold is in exemplary condition and it would be difficult to find better.  The edges and spine are extremely clean and there is only minor shelf wear on the corners.  There is one very small area of wear on the opening edge towards the top but apart from that this gatefold is nigh on perfect, it truly is a lovely example of this rare LP.  The inside is in absolute pristine condition.  As this is a second or third pressing the embossed gold crest on the front is only slightly raised.  This cover is so often found in poor condition so it's a real treat to find one like this today, especially when you consider it is now 25 years old.

The sleeves are in perfect condition which is so rare as they so often have splits.  100% perfect.
