QUEEN

“A NIGHT AT THE OPERA”

MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original Harvest Records very first STEREO press released by Harvest Records, made and distributed in Venezuela in 1976 by Corporación Los Ruices S.A., catalog number SHLP-9527, with hand etched matrix numbers SHLP-9527/A 1318181 Lucy in Side A and SHLP-9527/A in Side 2, with tradictional yellow/green/black Harvest Records labels. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America!!!

“A NIGHT AT THE OPERA” was originally released in 1975 but in Venezuela this album was released in 1976 with a gatefold cover and UNIQUE ARTWORK. Front and back covers are totally different of any other issue, it has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, a dark picture of Queen on stage, with name of the band above Roger Taylor, the album title written in English only at bottom edge and the Harvest Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. Back cover is divided in 4 parts, with a dark picture of each member of Queen on stage, the same concert of the front cover picture, with Harvest Records logo and catalog number at top right corner, tracklist written in Spanish only and a little green circle with the price informed at the part of John Deacon, and the text “Hecho En Venezuela Por Corporación Los Ruices S.A.” (Made In Venezuela By Corporación…”) at bottom left corner in the part of Brian May. In inside keeps the same original design, with all the lyrics written in English only and curiously they kept the credit for Garrod And Lofthouse Limited. In labels the album title is written in English only and tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters of each song. You can also notice some errors in this megarare press, the song “Death On Two Legs” is misspelled in label “Death On TOW Legs” and song “Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon” is misspelled “LAIZNG On…”. So, yes Sirs, here you have a chance to get this unique issue of “A Night At The Opera” with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNIQUE PRINT ERRORS!!! ANOTHER GREAT FIND that you can’t miss if you like and collect Queen!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition both sides, clean and complete, with evident discoloration and general wear, some little rips at mouth edge and a 4 inches seam split at bottom edge, the spine keeps solid and fully readable and the inside keeps in great condition, it only has 1 inch rip at the center and stamp at right edge. The record is in VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and soft scratches, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play. Labels are in EX+ or NM- condition both sides, clear and clean, with only some very light spindle hole wear. The sound is in VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile) and constant occasional crackles, soft pops and clicks, more evident at the first 2 songs of each side and in the silent parts, most of Side A plays in absolute VG+ or EX- condition, but in Side B I detected 1 little jump in “The Prophet’s Song” and 2 little jumps in “Good Company”. I’d recommend a deep vacuum cleaning, because the record looks very well and sure I’ve couldn’t remove all the dust and as you must also now, the records behave different in different turntables. Overall, this record is still in a very nice condition, sure it’s not for Minty minds or audiophiles, that’s a fact, but sure it keeps a clean and complete cover, almost immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after almost 40 years, still considering those little jumps which you could even not to hear!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and UNIQUE ERRORS that you will only find in this issue from Venezuela!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

We are not responsible for all the taxes, duties, fees you could have to pay in your country, but I always declare the records as gift.
