QUATERMASS s/t Heavy UK Prog lp HARD STUFF - John Gustafson - Harvest Records…Listen!
1970/Canada/Harvest Records SKAO-314….. RE-LISTED DUE TO NO PAYMENT. Here's a nice original Canadian pressing of this scarce progressive lp. The cover is in solid VG condition with light shelf/ring wear, edge and corner wear, heavier wear at the top and bottom spine with minor edge splits there(see pics), there is a piece of scotch tape on the inner gatefold(see pics), otherwise the cover is solid with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in glossy VG++ condition. The vinyl is very clean with minor light inner sleeve storage stains and a couple of small light grit scratches which cause a bit of minor crackle for a few seconds, light background noise at cue and between some tracks, otherwise the vinyl plays excellent with clean clear fidelity from this deep groove pressing. Clean labels. Please check out our other listings of used and new lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking! I have recorded one side of this lp with no filters as heard at this link(copy and paste this link to your browser)----https://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=06618515-9584-4f32-bed0-9eecf228c38b
The trio consisted of bass player and vocalist John Gustafson, keyboardist J. Peter Robinson and Mick Underwood on drums. Underwood had previously played with Ritchie Blackmore in the Outlaws, while Gustafson had been a member of the Big Three and Merseybeats. Underwood later became drummer with Episode Six, and was joined by Gustafson after Roger Glover left to join Deep Purple. The band took its name from Professor Bernard Quatermass, a fictional scientist who had been the hero of three science fiction serials produced by BBC Television in the 1950s, and were signed to Harvest Records.
The group formed as a power trio with Hammond organ as the main instrument. Their first and only album sold itself through "...compactness, wealth of ideas, forceful lead vocals and complicated arrangements, enriched by pianist Robinson's tasteful use of classical strings which are on display along with spacious keyboard passages at their height in the mold of The Nice." One track, "Laughin' Tackle", includes 16 violins, 6 violas, 6 cellos, and 3 double bass, arranged by Robinson, and a drum solo by Underwood.
The group split in early 1971. Gustafson formed a new band, Hard Stuff (Bullet) with ex-members of Atomic Rooster.

MINT: as stated with no defects
NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean
EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much
VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition.
