QUATERMASS ‘QUATERMASS’ ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE UK 1970 HARVEST VINYL LP, – AN ORIGINAL UK EMI HARVEST RECORD LABEL STEREO VINYL LP IN GATEFOLD SLEEVE, CATALOGUE No SHVL 775.
BIDDERS, PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR THIS RARE ALBUM CAREFULLY, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF FAULTS WITH THE PLAY QUALITY, SO PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH IT. I DO NOT WANT THE ALBUM TO BE RETURNED AGAIN, BECAUSE OF THE FAULTS THAT HAVE BEEN CLEARLY DESCRIBED, THANK YOU.
Quatermass is an album by British progressive rock band, Quatermass, first released in May 1970. It has been described as "a keyboard dominated chunk of heavy progressive rock... a popular part of the eccentric Harvest label. Based around organ, bass and drums, Quatermass is regarded as a quintessential British prog rock album, destined to remain a cult classic and also one of the first albums in the vein of progressive metal. Overall, the album is well-rounded, technically competent and complex, yet retaining a distinctive swing time rhythm as would be expected from a trio that were at their core a strong rhythm section. Throughout, the album flows easily from mid-tempo rock to avant-garde instrumental to bluesy soundscapes. This is a first issue of the very rare Quatermass UK Album Release from 1970. The Vinyl LP is on the original Harvest Record Label.
Both record labels are in superb Excellent Plus condition, bright and undamaged record labels with just a few light signs of play to the centre of each record label.
Side 1 stamped matrix: SHVL 775 A-1 and Side 2: SHVL 775 B-2.
Side 1 Mother Stampers: 1 A and Side 2: 1 G.
Both sides of the very heavyweight Vinyl Disc are in superb Excellent condition, clean and bright Vinyl surfaces to both sides, with just light surface hairline scratches.
The LP plays through both sides very well with mild background crackle, however, (PLEASE NOTE) there is a scratch on side 1 that produces a light click on Post War Saturday Echo, and into the beginning of Good Lord Knows, it is a light click and is not heard at high volume .
The LP comes in it’s original Harvest bag, and is protected in it’s original front and reverse laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Gatefold sleeve. This sleeve is a very nice example without any major damage and is in Excellent Minus to Excellent condition, no seam splits or tears, just light corner bumps, mild rubbing to the edges, and light LP storage signs to the reverse.
This is a very rare album and a very nice example of this original 1970 Stereo Quatermass Album.
