Description

This is an auction for my complete shop stock. I have been trading vinyl for about 10 years now, most of that time on Ebay and have built up a considerable stock of records. The reason for selling is two-fold, firstly despite having well over 2000+ positive feedbacks and no negatives you may notice I am not top rated. This has become very frustrating and is because of the dispatch time which, lets face facts, people mark for when it arrives and certainly not when it's sent. I always dispatch within three days of purchase. Because of this I only receive five percent of final value fees instead of the twenty percent received for being top rated. Hence I recently opened a sister shop, with my partner, Absolute-Vinyl, this shop was going to specialise in dance music and along with this established shop increase our turnover. I agreed to sell my own collection of Hardcore records to help attract new customers and boost sales, I placed some of my rarer items in the last week on auction on monkeybontunes, this shop, and have been very dissapointed to find that the market is completely flat in regards to this genre. So refusing to let these go at ridiculous prices I have decided to retain my own collection, the hardcore records listed will be withdrawn from sale, and throw in the towel in regards to selling vinyl on Ebay.

So I will break down for you as much as possible exactly what you get. When breaking other collections I only tried to retain records with some kind of intrinsic value and records which come in collectors condition, hence giving everything shelved a chance of selling. The fact is I could never keep up and list the amount of records I was receiving hence I have piles of records from all genre's yet untested and in one or two cases in boxes which have not even been sieved. So I will go through each collection I have and give you as many details as possible, this auction will include some rare items and 1000s of sellable records ideal for selling individually on Ebay as I have been doing for some years now.

Firstly, you get the 1250 or so records I have on my Ebay right now, these are all on Buy It Now, so have a browse through my shop categories for a complete list of what is included, nearly all of these come in collectors condition and will sell for the right price. These are pictured on the second shelf and top right corner of the top shelf of my larger stock room and the two centre-shelves of my small stock room. Because the decision to sell my stock has just been made I have not had the time to have a sale or reduce any items, giving the purchaser the oppurtunity to do just that. I sell a minimum of 35 listed 'buy it now' items a week. Drop the prices or have a sale, this will obviously increase this number significantly, list the other 3000 items included and you could expect to have a healthy weekly turnover. I would also suggest putting the rarer items on an auction basis, thus increasing productivity even further.

Secondly, you get a collection of some 600+ 12" records. I purchased these quite recently and have had a chance to go through them, chucking out the crap pop, records with no value or records in poor condition. This collection is made up of mostly R&B, Soul, Rock, New Wave, Pop, Disco and other genre's dated from perhaps 1975 upto the early 1990s, some rare records are included, nearly all should be in collectors condition as I have given them a quick once over before shelving them. Saying that obviously some will play worse than they look. These are pictured on the bottom shelf of my larger stock room, please check the pictures above for clarification.

Next you get a collection of well over 1000 dance 12" records. I purchased several collections of this genre in anticipation of opening Absolute-Vinyl. I have had a quick look through these and removed the few Hardcore records I was after, the rest is completely intact. So Club classics through to techno, commercial dance,  lots of House, Garage and other types of dance music. I have not test played or graded any of these records but certainly expect a large majority to be in collectors condition and for some rare records to be included. These are pictured in the large brown boxes.

Next you get a collection of approx 200 12" promo's, DJ promo's and white labels. These I actually purchased of an ex radio DJ and come in the best of conditions. These were obviously sent to the radio station and cover all genre's with a few being completely blank and others having promotional flyers or sheets with them. As stated these do come in fine condition, played once or twice, if at all, some will no doubt need a clean, but expect these to mostly grade from Ex+ to mint. These are pictured on the top shelf of my small stock room.

Also included are approx 80 Classical records and box sets, including some rare items which are booked at decent prices, SXL WBg, SAX T/S etc, not test played or graded but some decent looking items included. Pictured on the bottom shelf of my smaller stock room.

Also included are appox 600 singles. Broken up into smaller groups these are as follows: Approx 80 come in plastic sleeves and the best of conditions, many rock in this batch, not test played but expected to grade Ex to mint. Perhaps 100 are 1950s & 1960s rare singles, sieved from other collections and placed in a box, not test played or graded so all conditions on these, some booked at decent prices. 40 or so are demo singles again sieved from other collections and placed in a box, these come in fine condition, not test played but expected to be Ex to Mint. These are pictured on the bottom and top shelf of my small stock room. The large box pictured has not been sieved, it looks to contain mostly 80s picture sleeves, nothing to get to excited about hence why I have not got around to sorting them, the same thing applies to the red bag which has a mish-mash of all types. I would expect all conditions on these with some no doubt only fit for the bin.

In addition included are over 300 LPs, these are pictured on my top shelf of the large stock room.  Broken down I would say that a majority are your run of the mill kind of LPs, some intrinsic value making them worth shelving for later sale but nothing to get to excited about, all of these would have had a once over when shelving so should come in collectors and sellable condition. Perhaps 40 or 50 are rare records which need a test play or clean to ascertain there true grading, not got around to this despite some having decent book prices.

Also included are approx 800 company sleeves and a few picture sleeves, dating from the 1950s onwards, collected over the last 8 years or so, some very rare sleeves included, ideal for matching up them rare 45s and ideal shop stock. Adding the right company sleeve increases the sale of each item, in some cases greatly.

Lastly included are a few reference manuals, price guides, a few magazines, a few records I could not sell on here, Beatles, Zappa to think of two and anything else I find lying around before the end of this auction and collection. A quick note on this I have a large stack, possibly 60, rare 78s, Elvis, Buddy etc but have misplaced them, I think they may be in the loft, so I will include these if I find them but please do not include them in your purchase price evaluation. Also any buy it nows between now and the end of this auction will be sent and removed from this collection, perhaps 35, to compensate for this missing few I will add any record which does not sell that I currently have on auction, not including my hardcore of course. I will not drop any prices or hold any sales in regards to the buy it nows before the end of this auction.

Viewing is welcome for this collection, please get in touch and we can arrange a time. Collection only, this will require a large transit van or small lorry. I will supply the boxes required but will certainly not attempt to send these, if possible, anywhere. This auction finishes on Thursday night, the winning bidder must pay a deposit of £200 via paypal immediately, the rest can be paid on collection, this way I will not incur a large paypal fee. I would like this lot, if possible, shifted at the weekend (Fri 11th, Sat 12th or Sun 13th) following this auction,  but the monday(14th) is also fine. After this day I am back to work so please make sure collection is prompt and your feeling strong, I will of course help.

So if your an existing shop and are looking for a quailty stock of records to keep you busy and make a decent profit from this is ideal for you, alternatively this is an ideal oppurtunity for a new shop to purchase some quality stock which will give you an income for years to come. Any questions feel free to ask.

I notice this has not exactly got of to a flying start, my regulars know I always offer great value for money on all my auctions and don't overhype my items in any way, reading back I think I have certainly understated this collection in terms of quality and not highlighted the fact that all unsellable rubbish has been removed in terms of the LPs, and nearly all of the 12", guaranteeing at least 2500 of these are in fine and collectors/resellable condition and that the crap pop and records with no value have been removed. A majority of the singles are, as stated, unsorted. I will drop the starting price to hopefully get things moving, so come on chaps this is not one of those Ebay auctions but genuine quality shop stock which once listed (expect to work hard to achieve this) will generate an income of hundreds of pounds a week for a long period in time, just as I have done for many years now.

ALSO ADDED ARE A LARGE QUANTITY OF RECORD MAILERS & STIFFNERS, SOME RECORD BOXES & PLASTIC SLEEVES.

A BIG THANK YOU & GOODBYE TO ALL MY CUSTOMERS & EBAY ITS BEEN EMOTIONAL.
