Description
Here's an original copy of the much sought-after Dutch psych classic 'Afghanistan' by Q65, released on the black Negram records label in 1969. Having had a few personnel switches and immersed themselves in psychedelia, this formerly bluesy band made some extraordinary acid rock in the late 60s. This album was only ever released in Holland, and (like CQ by the Outsiders) is impossible to find even there. I have only ever seen one other copy on ebay, and that was quite some time ago. Songs like 'Injection', 'We Are Happy' and 'Night' are as heavy as European psych ever got. The gatefold sleeve is a dazzling (but notoriously fragile) silver foil and dayglo orange creation. Though the lamination has come away in places, it is still very presentable. Though a little frayed, it is in very respectable shape with a few creases and clear tape on the spine and right hand edges. The vinyl is marked but plays through with only intermittent crackle- and, needless to say, is a very loud recording in the first place. Sadly, Dutch hippies seem to have taken very bad care of their record collections! This is a decent copy of a very rare album indeed. Overall I'd call it VG++ (sleeve) and VG+ (vinyl).
