Description

' Promenade Pops '  ~ A Special Classical Music Presentation by World Record Club
6 LP Vinyl 12" box set with booklet approx 1960's.
I  am listing this as a Rare / Very Rare item , as research has thrown up no other listings or copies of this box set , the only near reference i can find is from wikipedia , below is what i found :~
In the Promenade Concerts season of July to September 1958, World Records had a full-page advertisement (offering monthly releases at between 22s 6d and 24s 9d per disc, only one needing to be chosen per year) on the inside front cover of all the individual concert programmes, facing the actual music listing for the evening - a competitive space, placing it on equal footing with Electric Audio Reproducers, EMI Records, Decca Records, Grundig Tape Recorders, Ferguson Radiograms. A full-priced record then cost around 40 shillings (£2).
I can only presume, the copy / box set in my possession is a special  release of the above mentioned season of 1958 ( if you know different please feel free to correct me, i would love to know for sure , i could be way of the mark !!! ) The Promenade season is what we now know as ' THE PROMS '
Orchestras on the records include ,
Graz Philharmonic Orchestra - conducted by Gustav Cemy , Walter Goldschmidt , Maximilian Kogetinsky
The Vienna State Opera Orchestra - conducted by Hans Swarowsky
Sinfonia of London - conducted by Richard Austin, Joun Hollingsworth , Hans Swarowsky
Vienna Festival Orchestra - conducted by Max Schoenherr
Music by Beethoven , Tchaikovsky , Brahms , Strauss , Von Suppe , Rimski-Korsakov  and others . The box has the acceptable but expected signs of wear and age on the outer fringes and edges, specifically the 2 bottom corners (Please look at the box photo) from being handled and stored, it is complete and in one piece.

Inside the sleeves and vinyl are all in good but used condition, i have not played, cleaned or wiped the records, they are as last put away from being used and played (many years ago)

There is also a 6 page manuscript fold out  booklet inside ( but no date ) with details and history  relating to the collection and composers The pages have a few light brown spots of time & age on them (not all), this does not affect the ability to read the booklet, and it is fully intact.

This was part of my Fathers varied selection of musical taste, and is now in need of a new home where it can be continued to be appreciated, listened to and put alongside another collection.

Will be posted via Royal Mail 1st Class

Thanks for your time and having a look

Please feel free to make an overly large bid or offer should you wish  😊 😊 😊
