We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. - Mega-Rare & highly rated (original) 1969 private release issued in the Swedish underground channels led by quite a character from the USA who controls the vocals, though there are lengthy stretches of hypnotic acid prog rock grooves
- TASTE OF BLUES were a Swedish band who released this one album back in 1969 on the impossibly obscure SSR private label, which, oh by the way, IF one has any luck at all, the original print (here!) went for over $1000 US dollars as far back as 27 years ago as the outer (European) price sticker still in tact with sales back then attributes...
- Their original singer came up with the band's name since he was a big fan of Paul Butterfield, John Mayall and CREAM. He would leave though and his shoes were filled by a black American named Don Washington who fled to Sweden in the mid sixties and is claimed in the liner notes to be a convicted thief and a deserter from the Vietnam war. He also hated whites and physically went after two of his band mates. The liner notes say he was in his forties and was an alcoholic and drug addict. Apparently his soulful singing is what kept him in the band despite the unflattering comments.
The most talented member of the band was a dynamic trippy organ player who would later play with LOTUS, he also adds violin to this recording. The guitarist was very talented as well and loved to improvise with those fuzzed out tones you all love? The drummer really brings to mind the band "CAN" with his and the CAN style. He's like a machine out there. Highlight is the side long 17 minute title track that these guys are well defined as a sterling Krautrock nugget. The other side of this record is killer soulful blues tracks with a richly compelling sound. The closing track "What Kind Of Love Is That" reminds of THE DOORS.
Prior to recording this album the band had gained a good reputation as they played gigs constantly throughout Scandinavia, including opening for Frank Zappa and the Mothers as well as the Jefferson Airplane in the summer of 1969. Still record companies weren't interested, but an American living in Sweden had faith in them and paid for the recording of this album. Unfortunately the controversial cover art kept this not only from selling well but it also kept the media from reviewing it. They didn't want to touch it so the band would breakup not long after.
Without question the 17 minute title track is the highlight with the Teutonic Krautrock style with freaky electronics amid fluttering flute along with hypnotic keys and fuzzed-out guitar. This is a fine prog/acid-rock of Krautrock theme in repeated roundabouts where certainly the band CAN comes to mind quite strongly although very doubtful this band had heard of CAN this early on.
If your into CAN you need to hear the opening track while top flight blues rock fans would dig the rest of this record.
