Background Information
Click on the link to find the original source of this information: - Prince Buster - On Tour Live albums were still in their infancy in 1967, as an ear loaned to the likes of the Kinks, the Stones and John's Children will tell you. So don't expect miracles from Prince Buster's On Tour, recorded live during the Prince's spring 1967 U.K. tour, convened in the aftermath of his "Al Capone" hit.The disc itself was recorded on Buster's 29th birthday, and captures both performer and audience in boisterous form — indeed, the crowd occasionally threatens to drown out the star, although whether that's an authentic document of the actual evening's events or some post-production trickery is hard to say. Either way, the ensuing party atmosphere is definitely contagious, and the massed chant of "Buster Buster Buster" that erupts during "Take It Easy" cannot fail to bring a smile to your face.
Doubling as a near-perfect greatest-hits album, On Tour includes fine, punchy versions of "Madness," "Move Over," "Sound and Pressure" and, of course, "Al Capone"; also present are Buster's inimitable versions of "007" and "On the Beach," and a powerful romp through "Cincinnati Kids" (complete with a spoken word into that must have been added later).
The sound quality, meanwhile, is as good as one could reasonably expect from the period, and the whole thing adds up to one of Buster's most unequivocally enjoyable albums.
