Created by legendary writer and producer John Hughes, often known as the “Godfather of Teen Movies,” and directed by Howard Deutch, Pretty in Pink has remained one of the most iconic coming-of-age films since its release in 1986. Starring Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy, the film tells the heartfelt story of Andie, a working-class high school girl, and Blane, a wealthy student, as they navigate love across social classes. With its honest and bittersweet portrayal of teenage identity, peer pressure, and social divides, the film continues to resonate with audiences nearly 40 years later.
To celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, this limited edition soundtrack vinyl has been specially released. The soundtrack is considered just as iconic as the movie itself, featuring a perfect blend of classic New Wave tracks that shaped the emotional atmosphere of the film and defined an entire generation.
This anniversary edition also includes bonus tracks that were featured in the movie but not included on the original soundtrack release, including Otis Redding’s unforgettable “Try a Little Tenderness.” Other highlights include “Pretty in Pink” by The Psychedelic Furs, which gained renewed popularity with Gen Z audiences after appearing in Netflix’s Stranger Things, along with classics by OMD, The Smiths, and Echo & The Bunnymen.
