Pretenders Extended Play
Extended Play is the 1981 EP released by the Pretenders as a bridge release between their debut album and their second album, Pretenders II. It was released March 25,1981. It contained five tracks – “Message Of Love” and “Talk Of The Town,” which would be included on Pretenders II and “Porcelain”and “Cuban Slide,” which were outtakes from the debut. Also included was a live version of “Precious,”which was recorded on August 30, 1980 at the band’s Central Park performance.
What you are bidding on is a test pressing of Extended Play (vinyl in near mint condition) as well as a promotional copy of the commercial release. The promo jacket shows some very light surface wear, but the vinyl is near mint. The test pressing also includes an unattached Label Copy document detailing song titles, timings, songwriters, publishing and additional record company information.
Test pressings were produced by record companies to test the pressings of albums before going into full production. Sometimes they would be used to get music out to publications for review due to lead times, facilitating timely reviews with street dates. The amount of tests pressed varied on the amount of people required to hear a record for quality assurance and/or publications being serviced.
