To assess the quality of our vinyl we use the following industry definitions but are mindful that the interpretation of any grading system is, to some extent, highly subjective:
Record Collectors Grading system
Mint (M)
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Records opened or played only once or twice can still be categorised as Mint if they meet the above criteria.
Excellent (EX)
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. This is sometimes referred to as Near Mint/Near Mint Minus (NM/NM-).
Very Good (VG)
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable. The suffix ‘Plus’ may be added to this if it is felt that the item is close to achieving a score of ‘Ex’.
Good (G)
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
Fair (F)
The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P)
The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing (Generally speaking we do not sell such items).
Bad (B)
The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. (Generally speaking we do not sell such items).
* All International items will be sent in accordance of the shipping method elected by the customer unless, at the discretion of the seller, the item is sent tracked and signed due to value; in these circumstances the additional cost, where appropriate, will be met by the seller. Once the item has left the UK territorial zone the seller assumes no further responsibility for the delivery of the item nor the condition in which it is delivered to the customer. This is a matter between the customer and the appropriate territorial authority. Any International returns are at the expense of the customer.
Overseas buyers please wait for invoice before payment to determine exact cost.
There may also be extra customs charges imposed and value of item has to be declared to customs.
