You are looking at a vintage RT707 reel-to-reel recorder that is in very good condition. Everything works and there are no blemishes on the face of this recorder. I bought this recorder from a friend back in about ’79 or ‘80. He had the recorder for a short while until his mommy bought him the next best thing. (An only child… go figure !!!) This friend was so crazy about over cleaning and maintaining his audio gear. (It took this guy a full ten minutes to “prepare” every vinyl album for the turntable.) I felt confident buying the recorder knowing this guy’s weird habits. Anyway, I bought this reel to reel from him with very few hours on it. I used it some but found myself using my cassette deck in favor of the reel to reel. For the past 20 years it has set in a cabinet in my music room unused. It has been in a smoke-free temperature controlled environment. With this recorder I am including an extra blank reel and 11 reel-to-reel tapes two of which are new, still in the cellophane, the others contain recorded material. (Jimi Hendrix, Franke Marino, and yours truly on guitar with our three-piece band back in ’81, …ok, ok, we kinda sucked…) The schematic sheet and instruction booklet are also included. I encourage you to do some research on this recorder before bidding and you will find this to be very fine reel-to-reel recorder.
Ok, what is wrong with this recorder? The only thing I know to tell you is the blemishes on the top black of the recorder. There is some oxidation of the metal that I have no explanation for. There are others selling identical RT707's on ebay with the exact same blemishes. Maybe it is a natural aging process or something. Anyway, I took pictures showing the blemishes and you can look for yourself. Good luck bidding. I hope to find a good home for this Vintage Pioneer RT707.
