Artist & Title: Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon

The Dark Side Of The Moon (Ultra rare 1973 UK 1st pressing 10-track vinyl LP with SOLID BLUE PRISM Harvest labels & silver lettering. The vinyl has A2/B2 matrix numbers in the run-out grooves. Housed in its iconic gatefold picture sleeve complete with two large fold-out full colour posters & two unused stickers. This copy is complete with the original jet black die-cut inner. Highly desirable for its solid prism label, and is hard enough to find in any condition, this copy is in Excellent Plus condition, And as these solid prism pressings come up so infrequently this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

Catalogue Number: Harvest SHVL 804

Release date: 24 Mar 1973 (UK)

Overall Grade: EX+/EX+ (LP/Cover)

Matrix/Runout: Side 1: SHVL 804 A-2 GGG 5   Side 2: SHVL 804 B-2 GDH

This is the original form of the release, it has solid blue prisms on the record labels, later forms have an empty prism. It has a gatefold sleeve, with one sleeve glued shut. Came with 2 posters and 2 stickers (included).

The following is a guide to identifying all the elements that make up the rare and much sought after first pressing:

The label has a solid blue prism. Subsequent pressings have a blue glowing inner edge prism with the centre black.
'The Gramophone Co.' text is in the middle left on the label, not at the bottom.
A-2/B-2 matrix numbers in the runout.
Thick heavyweight vinyl believed by some to be the 'finest' and most true encapsulation of this historical recording as the first pressing was pressed direct from the original masterplate. These 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today. They play with a deep clear warm clarity and have to be heard to be believed!
There is a distinct but slight bluish tint or tinge in the black ink of the cover, rather than a deep pure black.
The gatefold sleeve is folded in and factory sealed at one end. (To identify the original the cover must have the folded in flap and not just be two flat sides glued together).
The inner sleeve is a distinctive polythene lined die cut black semi matt paper with white printed text stating 2 patent numbers at the bottom left (1125555/1072844) and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' at the bottom right.
Posters and stickers were printed on plain paper, not laminated.
The stickers have printed backs with ‘PERMANENT’ and wavy lines across them.

This unique, rare, FIRST PRESSING, Pink Floyd LP from the creative peak of the band’s career is hardly ever offered for sale in ANY condition.

This is the extremely rare real thing: a GENUINE first UK pressing. The record and gatefold sleeve are both in excellent condition, without any obvious signs of use, and complete with the original inner sleeve, stickers and posters (they genuinely look like they could almost have been bought new today). See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together, shrink wrapped, by me in 1973 not reprints or fakes. The LP is the original first press stereo LP, which was only played on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.
