A superb original 1971 UK first pressing of Pink Floyd – Relics, issued on the Starline label with the desirable A-1 / B-2 matrices and original fully textured black-and-white sleeve.

The earliest UK issue is distinguished by the textured Garrod & Lofthouse-style sleeve, plain monochrome Nick Mason artwork and A-1/B-2 matrix combination; later UK editions altered both the sleeve presentation and matrices. 

Relics is one of the essential early Pink Floyd collections, bringing together key Syd Barrett-era singles, album tracks and rarities from the band’s psychedelic beginnings.

The album includes Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, Interstellar Overdrive, Careful With That Axe, Eugene, The Nile Song and Bike, as well as Biding My Time, which had not previously appeared on a UK Pink Floyd album.

This is a particularly attractive example because the notoriously age-sensitive white textured sleeve survives in exceptional EX+ condition, paired with an EX vinyl.

Condition

Sleeve: EX+

The original fully textured sleeve presents exceptionally well.

The predominantly white artwork remains remarkably clean and bright, with only the slightest signs of previous storage and handling. The edges and corners remain strong, and the distinctive Nick Mason artwork presents beautifully.

Given how prone these original textured sleeves are to discolouration, staining and general handling wear, this is an unusually strong surviving example.

Vinyl: EX

The vinyl retains an excellent deep gloss with only minimal signs of previous handling or play.

Any visible marks are extremely light and superficial, with nothing significant detracting from the overall presentation.

A particularly clean original 1971 pressing.
