This auction is for 1 (one) US DJ only promo pressing version of Pink Floyd "Live At Pompeii" Original Radio Spot Announcements (USA, 1974, AF-FLOYD-1)
Radio-only for the USA, featuring voice of different Hosts introducing the Pink Floyd - Live At Pompeii movie, accompanied by music from the film. Pink Floyd EP of 12 commercials or Radio Spots for the movie / Cinema Experience "Live At Pompeii" also referred as "The Pink Floyd Movie" at the time.
The movie was originally intended for release in 1972 with eight tunes. It was released in 1974 for theatres with an additional three tunes from Dark Side Of The Moon and some interviews with band members. These radio spots were intended for the 1974 theatrical version. Each side has six radio spots. Side 1 spots are noted as "Original Radio Spot Announcements" and has four 60-second and two 30-second spots. Side 2 spots are noted as "Revised Radio Spot Announcements" and has five-60 second spots and one 30-second spots. The tracks are banded and have to be cued manually for each track. Side One spots are more than likely the spots that were heard on the radio, primarily the FM-stations. The spots on Side 2 are a mixture of serious and supposedly-comedic spots.
I recently acquired a record collection owned by a major radio network DJ from his personal archive. All 1970s promotional campaign editions unplayed archival copies.
