Pink Floyd - Meddle Still Sealed Mobile Fidelity issue with low number 161/5000

Meddle was the sixth album by British rock legends Pink Floyd, issued in late 1971.  The album featured one side of short songs, including the radio favorite, “One of These Days�, while side two featured a single song, the 22 minute epic, “Echoes� which became a live favorite over the next several years.

In 1979, the small label Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs had great success by releasing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in a limited-edition, high quality pressing.  In 1989, the sought to duplicate this by releasing Meddle.

Every title ever issued by Mobile Fidelity is collectible in its own right; their pressings from 1978 through 1989 were pressed in Japan by JVC on their proprietary Super Vinyl, an exceptionally resilient, dead-quiet vinyl compound. These records were mastered at half speed; both the tape and the cutting lathe were run at half the normal speed, allowing the cutting head to cut a more accurate groove in the acetate.  The finished product featured dead-quiet vinyl, with improved dynamics, better imaging, and tighter bass.  By their very nature, all of Mobile Fidelity's titles were limited-edition pressings, and Meddle was limited to 5000 numbered copies.  The album sold out in a matter of just a few months.

THE RECORD

The copy offered for sale is still sealed, and has never been opened or played.  It retains its original loose wrap, which was intended to eliminate warpage. 

This particular copy is number 161 out of 5000, and came from my personal collection.  At the time of this release, copies numbered under 100 were said to have been kept by Mobile Fidelity for internal use, making this copy one of the first few released to the public.

The record is believe to be perfectly mint and should include the original rice paper inner sleeve as well as a cardboard stiffener insert.

THE COVER

The cover is a gatefold cover with the Original Master Recording marquee at the top, and a limited edition sticker on the back, bearing the number 0161 out of a one-time-only pressing of 5000 copies.

It is not a counterfeit, or reproduction.  The record is an original U.S.-issued LP with a disk pressed in Japan by JVC>

No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)
No wrinkles or creases

No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.
No warping
No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
No glue traces or wax residue.
No bar codes
No RIAA stamps or stickers. 

This is a limited-edition, low-numbered, still sealed example of a terrific album by an iconic and very collectible band.  This copy would likely be your final upgrade.
